There Are Many Ways To Skin A Cat...Since You Are Using A Decent Block To Begin With, Why Not Do It In A Proven Way? Yes, One Of These Girdles Is A Bunch Of Work, But It Was Proven To Hold 761 HP On A Factory "S" Scratch 428 Block. (Yes, We Converted It To Screw In Core Plugs As Well, Just A Bit Stiffer, And Cooler, Than Brass) Not Everyone Has The Luxury Of Having A Factory Cast 428 Block Like Mine Was Either, And, We Could Have Used A Set Of Aftermarkey Caps, But I Decided To Go The Extra Mile And Go With The Girdle. The Results Spoke For Themselves. Your  Block Will Thank You For It, Your Machinist, Will Likely Come Up With A Dozen Reasons As To Why, "It Cant Be Done"... Every Bit As Important, Is The Precision Balancing Of The Rotating Assembly. You Will See In The Photo That We Did A "No Holes Balance" On My Build, Which Had Many Benefits As Well. As I Said, There Are Many Ways To Skin A Cat, But You Only Get To Do So Once, Be Sure And Do It Right.
would there be any benefit to dowelling the girdle to the pan rail at several points around it?

we used a replacement 428cj cam/lifters and springs. the springs are single coil with damper, 85 installed and 268 open pressures.

it failed at different points the second time, and we used the springs suited to the cam. i think next time i'll fit stock single springs for break in. this is the first time in over 40 years i've had cam/lifter failure on a build.

hi all, after having lifter failure on 2 consecutive cams in a 352 motor recently i have a question about the new lifters used. both times the noise and subsequent failure happened after about 15-17 minutes of the break in procedure. both times we used plenty (all) of the supplied cam lube and correct running in oil, the oil system was primed up to the rockers and the carb' was prefilled and timing set which meant the motor fired and could be brought up to 2000 rpm straight away.
so, the question is most of the lifters have no sign of wear and i thought why can't i use these 'almost' new lifters on another new camshaft? obviously i'd need to carry out the full break in again but as these lifters had survived break in already is it a fair assumption they were hardened correctly and good to go again?
any thoughts would be great.

hi all, it's been a while as i've changed jobs and had to move from my workshop of 25+ years and condense everything into my home workshop. but the good news is the anglia's booked in for a rolling road session on the 20th of this month. i'll let you know the result. it'll be nice to run it without any misfires and see what it'll do. regards, neil.

i finally finished porting the intake and got the motor together this week with the new dizzy and coil and 750 dp carb. it revs much crisper now, just need to book it in at the rolling road for setting up.

hi all,
due to a change in circumstances i need to sell my anglia gasser. it has a 390/c6/9" combo. there is a full build thread here  http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/garage/105e-estate-awb-gasser-64485 featured in both custom car and classic ford (uk magazines).
i know i'm in the uk but this may interest someone enough to ship it to the us.
i'm after £13,000 (uk sterling) so around $18,000.
just thought i'd offer it to you guys too.
thanks, neil.

on my old 66 fairlane i sectioned the towers 1 1/2" each side moving them outwards to give more clearance. the top 'a' arms had the same trim too as they bolt to the bottom of the tower. it was stock looking at a glance but header clearance was much better.

seeing those pics made me chuckle. i did the same on a low kerb on an industrial estate near me in a 66 fairlane gta i used to own. the hookers were quite old and it wrapped itself round the steering, not good.

Wow, what a brutal distributor removal!  I hate it when they are stuck like that.  Have you test fit the new one yet?  Use some lubricant..

You will pick up some power with that Streetmaster modification.
hi jay, yes the new one slides in and out no problem and i agree a smear of anti sieze will go on it when it's final fitting time.
