I appreciate all the help and expertise.  Now you have given me some things to think about.  Wide ratio vs. close.  The fact the trans is shorter overall is also a concern.  The RUGAE2 with tail shaft numbers 070R-7A040-A  and factory shifter trans came with the car and I assumed the guy knew what he was talking about.  Well assumptions are dangerous.

So anybody out there interested in the short spline close ratio trans?  Anybody have what I need and would be willing to trade?
