Hi I am hoping that someone has an idea to help, I just spent $4000 on my engine, I put in M L S head gaskets, good intake gaskets and all the good parts including A R P hardware. I put in Lucas break in oil and fired it up and broke it in correctly and after 20 minutes I shut it off, checked the oil and it was a little foamy. It did not look like pudding but after pulling the valve cover there was condensation in the covers and a little foamy oil in the top of the head. I drained the oil and it had a little water mixed in. I don't think the multi layer steel head gaskets would have blown with only 20 minutes of running or the intake gaskets failed. If anyone has any ideas please let me know before I start tearing it apart. Thanks, Bill

FE Technical Forum / C6 with Transgo Kit questions
« on: March 23, 2016, 08:34:27 AM »
Hi, A few years back I had my C6 rebuilt to make it almost bulletproof, I had a Transgo kit installed (which one I don't know). As I was picking it up he told me he made it fully manual and if I didn't like it he could easily make it automatic shifting again, The way it shifts is that if I put it in drive and go it instantly shifts to high gear so I have to "manually" shift through the gears. This has been fine but now I am going through the engine and tranny and would like to make it automatic with nice snappy shifts again. The guy that built it has long disappeared so now I need to install a kit, which kit should I use ? I have read about the 67 1-2
kit. Not knowing what was installed or removed from the valve body should I be able to tell by comparing the kit to what is in the VB now? any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Private Classifieds / FLOWMASTER 2 1/2 ' KIT ON TO STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLDS

Hello everyone, I was going to install my Hooker Supercomp Headers on my '69 s code Mach 1 but due to ground clearance problems I am forced to stick with the " pretty good" GT manifolds. My question is : does anyone know where to get a reducer pipe from 2 1/2" to 2" or is there a supplier that makes a flanged exhaust pipe that will bolt directly to the manifold then to a 2 1/2" pipe?. I know this probably is  a strange request but I am hoping it will not be too hard to find. Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Bill

FE Technical Forum / PUTTING A 280H CAM IN A 390
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:54:41 AM »
Hi, I am about to put a comp cams 280h in my '69 mach 1 390,  it has 10:1 compression, an Edelbrock streetmaster intake, hooker headers, I bought the correct springs but the converter is only a 2000 stall. Should this cam be OK ? and is it necessary to use a degree wheel when installing or can I just align it to specs/. if anyone has the same cam in their 390 please let me know or any comments are appreciated. Thanks, Bill

FE Technical Forum / Choosing the right camshaft for '69 mach 1
« on: June 04, 2014, 04:22:31 PM »
Hi, after driving my Mach 1 for 23 years with the same cam it is time to replace it. I like the cam but for some reason there are no identifying numbers on it,  I am sure cams have come a long way in that time and I am wondering which cam to install. A few specs on my engine are:
Bored out .060 ( due to needing a couple of sleeves)
10:1 trw flat top pistons
Edelbrock streetmaster single plane intake
at the time I am using the GT exhaust manifolds but going to headers
This is hooked up to a C6 with a low 1st gear, I use the car for daily driving but i would like a lopey idle with all the power I can get. SO if anyone has some ideas Please let me know, I am just waiting on the cam before I can finish the rebuild. Thanks, Bill
