FE Technical Forum / Re: C3ae 6090c heads

The 406 heads were C2SE-C. Ben bought the set I had that I purchased bare in the box NOS from Ford Power Parts back in the 80's

I purchased new Clevite Bearings number CB-760 P-20. There is no V groove on the bearing shell at the parting line of the rod cap that lubricated the thrust side of the cylinder wall via the notch in the rod cap. Have they changed the design? Should they be exchanged for another brand? The mains are in, but it appears if this may have even oiled the cam. Anyone running them with no issue that has a flat tappet hydrualic cam?

Hello,
Who's doing the spacers? I am replacing main caps lost on my 427 and I will likely have to have new spacers made.

I am at a bit of a loss as to why we would want to remove the post. Many of us trade/purchase from people and vendors here. If there is a history of poor transactions, I would want to know before I funded something via Paypal, USPS money order or whatever monetary form you choose to purchase with.  I also see more issues becoming common as the economy declines.  The purpose is to protect the community here from unscrupulous shit bags, especially like Coon and FPP, which is sounds to me like they are very similar in operation. Leave them be, and if you have an issue, have the testicular fortitude to use your regular handle, not one you conjured up to trash an individual or their company.

When I installed the igniter II, Pertronix said that you should always install their coil. I bought both.

FE Technical Forum / C7ZX-A Intake SNAFU. Restoration to CAST appearance?
« on: January 21, 2014, 11:09:06 PM »
I, on the advice of a few others used mag cleaner on the intake, which didn't look too bad, but as usual the low areas between the runners had some corrosion. It wound up making the manifold look like it had a powdery white on it. So I decided to put it in the dish washer and run it with some Cascade.  Once again, the outcome was less than expected. I took it to a powder coater I used and had him blast it with plastic media as I was trying to keep the grey original cast appearance. Well, strike three. It was so mild it didn't get some of the mild corrosion on the flat areas between the intake runners and the finish isn't even. Does anyone know a process that isn't extremely pricy or works well to restore the surface more to look like a new cast finish? If no one knows a proven fix, does anyone make a paint that mimics the almost flat color of cast aluminum that's on the grey side instead of bright silver that I won't have to worry about damage from fuel if any winds up on it while the carbs are being tuned?  Anyway, pointers to a shop that does these things or a process I can do at home would be very helpful.

How about a picture? There is more than one style of Le mans FE Valve covers. I may very well be interested.

Thank you gentlemen for the replies. I bought a set of the HIPO drip trays before I decided to go end stands because of several pictures of shaft breakage with spring pressures in the 400lb range. I restricted the orifice to .090, which seems to work well with the HP-HV oil pump.
