Private Classifieds / 427 low riser 8v setup $1,500
« on: May 17, 2016, 09:32:15 AM »
Manifold, Carbs, Linkage and fuel rail $1,500 - manifold has no part number but does have fomoco and firing order - 1 cracked center valve cover boss and needs 3 heli coils - the carbs are the early "c" carbs and both match (315 date code) - they are missing the chokes (butterfly still there) but are really nice, work smooth, and otherwise complete - the linkage is complete and original as is the fuel rail - $1,500 plus the ride

the Cammer would appeal to the pre-48 hotrod crowd looking for something different to put in their fenderless 32 or some sort of street "altered" hooptie. The 60s Galaxie application is a given but I think there is a wider appeal to the Cammer than just Galaxies, Fairlanes and Mustangs and don't overlook the hotboat crowd.

Thats Me - when my plans fell apart on the project I was putting together I started on an altered (bantam body) It is a 96" wheelbase and will never be a competitive race car - I will run it only at nostalgia events and it will be a glorified "run stand" ....I must confess, I have an alky injected sbc at my disposal and actually offered my fresh 427/c6 here at a super cheap price with no takers.....right now its mocked up in the chassis and I'll prob run a sheet metal intake on jay's adapter.....but a SOHC conversion is just what this thing needs....Am I in at 10k for the parts? Hell ya

If I had a Talledega I would stick the original motor in a plastic bag in front of the garage for the next owner to fawn over.  And I would build a 600 HP NASCAR looking tunnel port and have some fun.

+1 on this - I would love to see it - great idea

why not just use a '65 up starter? the pull style wouldnt work with your flywheel anyhow (assume the mini-starter uses the later tooth flywheel)

OK - here's how things ended up - 4.25x3.78 .042 quench 11:1 static compression - stock cj heads - 1966 PI intake - 3310 - Faron set up the dist (curve and pertronics) - the cam is the aformentioned general kinetics (loose copy of the AA cam) it is .525 lift 296adv 244@.050 114lsa installed on a 106ICL - exhaust is open non restrictive headers - so the question is....how much hp? 425? at what rpm? torque? - gear up those keyboard dynos for me.......

I had the exact same boat over 20 yrs ago......even the color scheme was similar - mine had an L-88 in it with a velvet drive trans.....after about 55-60mph (80+ top speed) the fins came out of the water and you best not try to steer.....mine had a hydraulic foot pedal and fixed tabs - due to the latter, you had to finesse it out of the hole, or risk going over! use to run it on lake george, NY early in the am due to a 55mph speed limit.....good times! have fun!

FE Technical Forum / Re: Valve job question
« on: April 27, 2014, 07:57:24 AM »
the top of the valve is about .020 above the floor of the chamber.....so they are pretty low - I would define high or optimal as the entire margin of the valve being above the floor of the chamber...

Would going to a larger intake valve (2.25) help the situation any?

FE Technical Forum / Valve job question
« on: April 25, 2014, 09:41:12 AM »
See pic.....whoever did this valvejob used a straight cutter - the valve is 2.09 and the diameter around it is 2.23 the resulting groove is almost as deep as the margin of the valve - the rest of the work is good.....so the question is, is this OK? How much will this effect flow?

Got a fresh Cloyes on the way now - I will report back as soon as its in my hands and installed - I talked to my machinist and he concurred - said in all his years he has only used 3 shorter sets out of 100s of motors of all makes....He also said they only had to line hone my block...
