Very nice, used, original Thunderbird tripower setup. Correct intake, correct C2SE carbs and a beautiful restored air cleaner. Looks very solid w/o repairs. These don't become available very often, especially in this condition. Prefer local pickup to prevent damage. Email me if interested @ tim@428cobrajetcars.com

FE Technical Forum / Re: Starter Alignment / compare to factory parts

I always try to use parts that match factory Ford parts. The flywheel may not be correct or the block plate may be incorrect,or a stack-up between both. Put a stock Ford starter locater plate on the block and re-check. Ford made millions of FE blocks/starters/plates and most all work just fine.

Intake is an Edelbrock Super Victor. Holley is 850 stock out of box w/vac secondary. Not tried any tuning yet on carb. Best ET was on 93 degree day w/high humidity. I am going to fab a " Batwing" air cleaner like old NASCAR and get some fresh air from cowl. Torque converter is a 3200 RPM unit and I think I can go up to 3800-4000. This is a "stab + steer, let it shift" racer. Pulls the front wheels, which the fans love. The background cars are a couple restored '69 Mach I Super Cobra Jet cars I have had for a very long time. My earliest FE is the '67 Galaxie 428/4 speed I bought new when I was 19. Still have it! ( you do the math) Nothing feels better than strapping it on some young kid with a Chevy.............. the 119 MPH fools a few that think I ran out of gas @ 1/8th, ;)

Only had my new toy out 4 times so far. Sorry, not FE this time. Ford Motorsport Boss 351 block, aluminum heads, etc. C4 trans Single 850 carb ,93 octane .  Got some .06 reaction times and lots of .10 times. Car goes 11.50 @ 119 and I still use dual points and stock Ford coil. I custom build Ford distributors and want to know I am able to provide good results. I believe this combo will end up around 11.20 @ 122 mph with a little more tweaking.
10-4-15 UPDATE... Best ET 11.229 ( on a 11.24 dial dammit @ 121.5 MPH ) still using factory dual points! Just had to share..........

I would like a '64 427 single 4v type ( C4AZ# ),and if not that, then the early HiPo 390 that had a larger diameter lid than the lower portion. I just do not want the Mustang HiPo 289 type ( C5ZZ # ) that is repopped. Please let me know if you have anything available. Thanks! Tim

Looking for the early type , not the later 289 HiPo type. Open element. 64 were chrome ,early 390 HiPo were painted. Let me know what you have. Thanks!

FE Technical Forum / Re: Too much voltage??
« on: December 30, 2012, 07:35:32 AM »
Just remember that the charging system works on the inverse. Low system voltage results in higher charge rate and opposite happens w/ higher voltage ( fully charged) results in lower output.
