Son had a -74 Volvo 164, He bought a piece of fuelhose between fuel pump and steel line to tank.
A year later it was so cracked i sucked air in to the fuelpump. The seller of the fuelhose blamed the
Gas this days that just just eat rubberhoses. Son asked why the gas had not eaten the factory rubber
hoses from -74. To wich the seller had no answer but still blamed the fuel

Not actualy related but.... conserning oil consumption. I fully rebuilt a 70s Mercedes Diesel
Including topdecking. linehoning.etc was running realy smooth and "strong" yeahh for 68 hp
but used some oil. The owner talked to an old Mercedes mecanic that said he had not seen
a Mercedes diesel run that good before. He told him when those
cars where new some used oil some did not. And they got a service message from Mercedes
to block of 1/3 or 1/2 the oil cooler,i dont remember on those that used oil. He did that and it solved the oil consumtion ???
I know in 73 or 74 they skipped the oil cooler entirely but that lead to bearing failures so next year
the oilcooler  where back

FE Technical Forum / Re: '66 Galaxie front and rear springs
« on: January 30, 2025, 02:55:16 PM »
For the front coils, I would suggest you cut the coils.  It is a fairly slow process.  If you cut too much, you have to get a new spring.  Go a quarter coil at a time.  A half a coil will drop you down about two inches or so depending upon your front end weight.  You might have to pull and reinstall the spring a number of times to get it perfect.  For the rear springs, if you live in a fairly large city, you can have the factory springs re-arced.

-66 have coils in the rear

I see one of King Christian von Koenigsegg's creations in the parade as well.  Now THAT is an impressive car.

Is the Cobra a reproduction?  It looks like it from the wheel flares and other details.

No it is a genuin 289 Ex racing cobra, thats why the wheel flairs and other modifications

We bought a 1936 ford of the guy that made it streetfriendly for the king so we talked about it.
but i dont remember the details. Funny thing he had a picture on the shop wall and asked if i
saw who it was. Was a bit grainy magnafied pic, i looked and looked ??? looks like me but who
is that lady in some tracksuit pants ??? Newer had any girlfriend that dressed in tracksuit ???
and whats the castle in the background, dont remember been to that castle
And he like, i be damned :o you are right it looks like you :o But its the king. And then he told
me about the Cobra

Koenigsegg have made reality of many boys dream, that most of the time ended with
a flimsy fibeglasbody and a wrecked VW bug behind the parents garage ::)

I'm not familiar with the Packard transmission, but a friend of mine had a VW Beetle that worked similarly.  You had to shift it (I think it was a 4 speed but might have been a 3 speed) but there was no clutch pedal which made me nervous the one time I drove it.  You just accelerated in first gear, then backed off the throttle, shifted to second, then got on the throttle again.  Kind of interesting...

Pat

Saxsomatic! was it called option on some european cars https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saxomat

Here in Sweden autotrans is more rare than stickshift, especialy in the past. Auto was something the disabled drove up until the 80s. The only cars with auto was
a few Mercedes, and Amerikan cars and there was few of them.

I have seen it inside several Army engines probably to prevent rust
when the vehicles was cold stored for years. looks like they were first
glyptalised, probably diped. And then machined

That’s funny, perhaps it would be the wind pose?

She looks like she could be the yoga instructor.
You are a lucky man!

I had a friend that always had a coment for everything. Another friend came with
his chopper with a high apehanger, and had a leather jacket with fringes.  Good damn you look like a crucified bat
when riding that. So that must be the riders pose ;D

Well, im not complaining. Not yoga instructor but have been fitnes instructor and competed in fitnes
swiming, horsejumping,etcetera

Do they make any kind of industrial paint slathering for the outside of these porous aftermarket blocks?  Whoops, did I say that out loud?

Opening another can of worms here ;D. I use 3 coats PPG Epoxi primer outside the block to seal the pores
not sweating of oil or lifted paint for many years. And i also grade of all sharp corners beacuse the paint tend to creap away
from sharp corners. And thats on porous stock blocks never had an aftermarket block and probably will never have one
