FE Technical Forum / Pushrod hole size in 2x4 intakes
« on: June 16, 2023, 12:44:14 PM »
Are the pushrod holes in the Ford medium riser 2x4 intake the same size as the Blue Thunder medium riser 2x4 intake?  I have a Ford 2x4 medium riser, and I'm using a POPs roller rocker system with POPs pushrods, which are thicker than the original Ford pushrods.  Seems the holes in the Ford intake are awful small to use the POPs pushrods.

I have the Precision Oil Pumps (called POP's on here a lot) on my 428 with their stands, with no issues so far.  Oregon Camshafts has a rocker system that looks interesting that I would try if I have if I had to buy another set.  These are a couple of options that are not as well known because they are small businesses.  Harland Sharps are pretty popular on this forum.

This is a car show me and my JROTC students are hosting on May 11th.  Our school symbol is the Thunderbird, so bring that T-Bird if you have one.  We have a seperate catagory for T-Birds!  Please come by if you are in the Tacoma, WA. area!

FE Technical Forum / Re: H pipe and electric cut-outs
« on: March 22, 2019, 02:02:42 PM »
If you want to take full potential of open headers, which is the sole reason for cut-outs, then before the H pipe. Besides, putting them after the H pipe would put you underneath the main area of the floorpans, and that's the lowest point of the car, so they would be sticking down quite a bit.

Good point about the floorpans.  I hadn't thought about that.  Thanks!

Getting ready to put an exhaust kit on my 1969 Mach 1, and it comes with an H-pipe.  I'd like on put in some electric cut-outs.  Should these go before or after the H?

Yes.  I had to put a pressure regulator on it, and it is fine now.

FE Technical Forum / Fuel pressure too high?
« on: August 05, 2018, 01:27:23 PM »
Last time I had a Holley (same one you are using by the way) do that, the fuel pressure was too high.  I put a fuel pressure regulator before the carb and set the pressure at 5 PSI , and no it runs great.  The fuel pressure from the new Carter fuel pump was too high.

I have Precision Oil Pumps rockers and stands, so the stock valve covers didn't work with the baffles.  I bought these for clearance, and they look pretty good.  http://www.cobranda.com/co428vacoc.html  Since I have a Q code, I also got an oval air cleaner.

I forgot something else I added.  When I was getting ready to put my engine in, I made the mistake of using S hooks on the chains.  Well, one of the hooks straightened and down came my engine on the oil pan.  So I now have a chrome standard capacity oil pan.  I will never use S hooks for something like that again!

Nice T-Bird!

Our school symbol is the Thunderbird Jay, So we have a whole separate category for Thunderbird's.  Unfortunately, we didn't have a single Thunderbird show up last year!  Hopefully that changes this year!

Flyer attached.  Show is April 28th at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, WA.  Proceeds go towards the JROTC, Band Boosters, and Auto Shop Club programs.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Choice of intake
« on: December 31, 2017, 05:50:27 PM »
As Chilli460 said, there are better choices.  The regular Performer has small ports that while good for low end torque, hurts performance at high RPMs.  An old Edelbrock Streetmaster, or the newer Performer RPM, or a Blue Thunder would be better choices.
