FE Technical Forum / Re: SOHC Heads with Cracks Between Valves

Pictures would help. Having them pressure checked will tell if the cracks are a issue. Most cracks can be fixed, but its always more to repair. Im not well versed on cammer heads but some high risers and TP stuff have cracks across the seat to the spark plug and that is pretty much a none issue.

https://www.fordfe.com/so-could-you-actually-get-a-390-330-p-code-t108937.html

Stroked 390 is WW. Seems his car didnt have a non drilled  solid lift engine either.

Including my Dad's which absolutely positively has the original block. It had all the other P-Code engine goodies, 427 crank, rods with bigger bolts, entire solid lifter valve train, P-Code carb with open element filter and vacuum advance distributor.

I thought this was a rare occurrence, but during the 10 years I've been doing this restoration I have been contacted by many 65 P-Code owners about the restoration and found some of their cars didn't have solid lifter blocks either. Even though it was the original block. ww

We all know that sometimes Fords literature can be hit or miss. Also doesn't say that its a non drilled block. Im going to stick with it blocked off in cross over.

I don't think it would use a special block. If any thing it might have the cross over blocked up top like the 428 PI , but not a specific non drilled 65 hipo block in 65.

Delfleet essential is a single stage made by PPG. I used it under my hood on my Galaxie. Its a very durable single stage black paint. Takes a few days to fully dry but once dry its tough. Its also not super shinny , which helps in the interior, its not a flat either.

I like it , or find an old Dove TW and do a all Dove build! But for the money the TF is was above average.

Ohio Crank does all the local work for my local guy. Never used Ohio George's son ,but if he was confident of the job and reasonable priced and he seemed to know what to do , why upset? Because he was busy cant be upset either, i know lots of people who dont talk alot on the phone . Times that by 10 calls a day and its hard to get things done. As far as Adney ive used him also he is usually backed up , but does great work, $500 isnt crazy money for the time spent to fix the issue.

Be a very cool build! Go TW!

Ive seen this in my home town first hand. When company's no longer can compete they either move or close . The service industry pays almost nothing besides tips. Sure the owner makes out but pay out to its work force isn't great. The town i live in had probably 30 factory's in it up till the 90s. NAFTA killed that , now none of them are open any more. Yes there plenty of restaurants, but how many familys of 4 does that raise? I remember when those factory jobs had free or close health care, matched 401k , stock incentives etc , where are those things now days?

Doug has a very good prospective, the added cost pays Americans for their jobs and family's.  As for the pace maker or what ever you want to say to square ones idea. No one is saying not to buy this or that . One is simply suggesting that when one can , buy American. Back 30 years ago when all the quality parts went to Mexico because every one that had a choice of a $7 dollar part,, or a $20 dollar part choice the $7 dollar one and the quality part went the way of the doh doh bird. Now you have to buy three of said part to get one the works.
