Private Classifieds / WTB FRONT BOWL FOR C7 1967 390 CARB
« on: April 16, 2018, 03:48:03 PM »
Recently started on this major project  of a 67 GT FB 4 speed 390 auto  an outside the barn find sitting for 25 years.

So in various stages of putting  this mess back together  I need a front carb  bowl.  The engine itself was frozen but it  was all there including the original C7 carb.  The front bowl adjustment screw and threads  were trashed   so I am on the hunt for a bowl that will fit this model.

Does anyone  have  a part/pieces that will fit this carb?

Many thanks

FE Technical Forum / Re: Intake manifold modification
« on: March 22, 2018, 10:36:14 PM »
Thanks  everyone.  The 66 stang is not a racer, Its Isaiah's school car with factory  cam, heads et all.  Swap meet price was super cheap.

I like the idea  of notching  the fore and aft inner walls and inserting  an aluminum piece.

All the best

Hello Jay  and the brain trust

Recently found at a swap meet   an early Holman and Moody intake manifold  for a 289/302.  Purchased it for my boys 289 Mustang coupe.  In the center plenium divider  the divider has been machined down about 1 and 1/4 inch.
What affect does this have on engine performance?  More top end ?  More bottom end?  I thought I read  on this site a while back that it improves top end  power.  If so does that lessen any midrange or low end power or torque?

Thanks much

FE Technical Forum / Cams for cammer engine
« on: January 12, 2018, 10:55:34 AM »
Good morning Jay

At a farm sale in Nebraska I recently purchased a cammer engine, mostly complete sans carb.  Took it to Clay the local engine expert, we pulled the heads.  Block looks good, no cracks, turns over, cam on drivers side  was broken.  Clay says Comp cams makes cams for this engine at we think at a reasonable price.  Your thoughts?   What brands do you recommend?

All the best

HOOORAH  as my old Gunney used to hollar.  Just found a 67 390 Fastback 4 speed ridden hard and put away wet.  Not exactly a barn find in that it sat outside a barn for 25 years.
Previous owner(s) installed  new quarters sometime back, front fenders are cherry, body  is straight, engine frozen but complete carb to pan including rusted out headers,  right side interior is trashed  with major rust as drivers side window was missing.
But it is complete with entire deluxe interior, deluxe exterior trim, including those added moldings over the rear tailight panel.
Ornerous repair will be the wiring in that someone added a complete battery relay assembly on the Drivers side of the inside fender panel.
Have not dug into that yet but if i have to replace that entire tach dash wire loom  AAAAGHHH!!! thats a major expense.

But as grandpa used to say " If you want to dance, have to pay the polka band"
Will send some pics  as soon as I figure out  how.

As far as your new  gas goes,  see if you can find a station with nonethanol gas and stick with that.  If not available in your area  then put  in a can of  Sea Foam  with each full tank of gas. Its available at Walmart for $6.99.  Seriously,  the ethanol gas  will dryout all your carb gaskets  and carode  the metal  if left sitting  for more than a couple weeks.

Best of luck

Larry
