Hi Ross

I will be coming thru Omaha  early March  possibly the weekend of the March 1, but the dates are not definite, no later however than the 9th or 10th of March.   I will buy your tranny  if it is still available.  If you  built it then it will be a "10 frickin 0"  so I don't need any additional pics.     Look forward to talking with you.  I was, however expecting  a  whetting down party for your promo to  O-7.  I screwed up your invite to the  last one when you made O-6. The USAF is loosing  one hellava  top level officer and leader.
I thought I once heard you say  or saw on the forum that you had an engineering degree.  You will have your choice of a plethora of jobs/opportunities.  With this booming economy  private companies are hiring like gangbusters. Are there any aerospace contractors  around Omaha? Your clearance level, exec/leadership experience, and demonstrated performance   are a HUGE BONUS  to prospective  employers. Trump has a massive  budget  for defense contractors  which makes me sure they are looking for high level experienced
men.
See you soon and I will give you a heads up on my arrival date.

All the best

Larry

FE Technical Forum / Which nonsynthetic oil to use
« on: May 05, 2019, 09:01:17 AM »
Hello Jay  and engine brain trust

I  just received back from builder my sons 351W engine.  Ran break in oil about 80 miles  and now want to shift to a nonsymthetic  street oil to set the rings.

Engine has stock cam, hydraulic lifters,  edel intake 4V  for street use only.

What oil with the zink can I use?

Many thanks

Larry

We put  a 428  albeit with edel heads, alum water pump and blue thunder intake  in a 65  falcon pickup.  Uses total control upper and lower control  arms and strut rods, 620 lb front springs    Bought the comp rear springs form cobra performance out of Connecticut.
Clay put a big weld  and serious reinforcement  on the  shock towers.

System worked well for street and track

Chris  up at Shelby restorations   in NE Nebraska  has a stock, running,  dated 68 390 for sale. Runs and  sounds great.  Pistons check revealed 7 with 150 +-  a pound, one hole  at 120, Edelbrock streetmaster intake, original C8 4V carb, flywheel, no clutch, stock cam and lifters, no smoke even tho we ran it for about 20 minutes. He's asking  2K.  Is that about a right price?  Too expensive?  A deal?

Pls advise

Thanks Janeson

The cam is a mechanical flat tappet  not ground to be a roller.

Am sure this has been mentioned before  but I forgot the answer.  Can you use a hydralic  flat lifter set   on a  roller cam.  Its in a car for the kid, a stock 302,  in a 68 FB.  Oiling  is unchanged  ie, lifter valley, juice lifters and feed to the rockers.  Had this 68 hipo cam laying around, new and unused.

Thanks much

Hi Richard

Hey that will work well.  I live very close to Parker Co.  Maybe 20 minutes north in Centennial. I'm good with other FE stuff.  Just picked up  a 67 390 FB 24 years outside the barn find.   Needs a ton of tlc.  A good 2-3 year resto project.

Pls call me  at (720)839-3477 or email at ltduba@hotmail.com  so I can be sure  to meet up with you.
