FE Technical Forum / Lentech AOD question
« on: February 05, 2014, 10:17:37 PM »
I recently bought a Lentech AOD for the Bad Byrd, so now I need to sell the Built c6 and New TQ converter, my question is anybody out there running one and what did you do for a TV cable and bracket?

I am all set-up for the C6, so I have a Billet carb mounting throttle cable, but truly had no intentions of using a kickdown..........I have always shifted my auto's so never found the need for one. But this is a totally different situation so a little help or opinion is necessary.

I agree Joe

The Mod motor stuff I have done all have been hand ported and then extrude honed, however like I stated above where it truly came into play for me was the actual reduction in AIT1 and AIT2 temps. because of the reduction in drag there was enough difference to actually increase the Boost and add additional fuel to obtain more HP. I am not by any means thinking this is a replacement for a good port job, just curious if it had been done around here and where there any gains at all.

I can see where extrude honing really wouldn't be a viable option for exhaust, but in a force induction mod motor the air inlet to the blower as well as the lower intake netter a lower discharge temp  into the cylinder which allowed some additional timing and air flow along with more fuel which netter a big gain of 50 RWHP. Obviously with a N/A vehicle the gains are going to be minimal in comparison but with this old Technology I would think some flow might be gained. Probably not a wise investment but its a thought anyways.

So I am a mod motor guy, thats where most of my experience in performance comes from. In that world of performance I found that extruding honing the upper and lower intake as well as the intake runners on the heads in force induction motor brought a great advantage................has anyone seen or done any extrude honing on these old motors and was there any gains?

Personally I think that well over 95% of these type of threads go against the grain and dont hold water in any decision I make anyways. I have never really understood these types of complaint boards anyways..............personally I say Scrap the whole thing.............but thats just me.

I had not ordered a Blue Thunder manifold, because I wanted my dads car to match mine (I ordered edelbrock), I settled for a Blue Thunder manifold because Survival Motorsport already had my money for so long I felt I could not get it back by disputing it with my CC company.

I am sorry you feel that I am slamming Survival Motorsports, I believe in GOD, FAMILY & TRUTH, if you can’t handle that I will pray for you. This person may be a good known vendor; all I’m stating is the truth. Know I am a man guided by God (I believe sarcasm to be a sin), and if sarcasm is one of the things to be expected on this sight I will gladly leave. I believe in living a peaceful life, one with God.

WOW!!!

If Sarcasm is a sin I am the Devil then!

FE Technical Forum / Re: Streetmaster gasket matching

Hey JayB

The Gasket which is a 1.4 x 2.34 is actually a touch smaller then the Head and intake I have now.

So I have possible changed my tune a little bit on the Stroker build. I bought a Edelbrock Streetmaster intake manifold, and I am shocked at how small the intake ports are. My heads are essentially MR intake ports and the intake ports on the Shelby Sidewinder are a medium riser as well but this Streetmaster is TINY compared to the heads and the Sidewinder. So has anyone ever actually taken these out that far?

I cant imagine being able to even port match to the gasket on the Streetmaster, I am looking at blending at least .150 in each direction to get these to match.

Personally if it was me and you can get your hands on any..............a 50/50 mixture of Sodium Hydroxide, And Sodium Chloride will make that think look like it just came out of the box!

Or any alkaline or Acid cleaner for that matter. Aluminum will etch at one extreme or the other..............so Alkaline works and Acid works. However I would always prefer Alkaline and then Acid.

The other option is to actually have it blasted with Garnet............vs media. Media isnt aggressive enough on these old cast Ford parts, but a finer Garnet will bring that back to life as well.

Well the Intake is TBC coated inside and out..................so if heat is the primary reason for not doing it then out it will come and in the trash it will go!

I also have had great luck with these guys, now I dont want to point fingers...............but some people feel entitled to special treatment because of what they deem as a lot of money. Not saying that is the case here..................but I have had nothing but great service from DSC.

I have the 445 torn down for some cosmetic items and a couple mechanical changes, I have blocked off the exhaust cross over so do I really need the Galley tray?

I am kind of with Barry on this one, I have yet to need anything accept a Stock Starter for any vehicle accept the Bad Byrd.......................reason for that is just to gain some header clearance! I am sure I could have gotten away with the stock starter but they where just to close for my taste!
