be patient,i have a 360 in my truck that was stuck,i took off the rockers, sprayed trans fluid and pb in the spark plug holes, tried to break it free with a big bar on the crank.i pushed and pulled on it for 10 days every morning.i then tried tapping the starter and it moved a little.after another week of tapping the starter,it moved a total of about 6 inches.i then tried tapping the starter WHILE pushing on the bar on the crank at the same time and it started spinning and spitting fluid out the spark plug holes. engine starts right up and runs good.

when i was a teen my dad had 11 56 fords in his junkyard.he gave me one that was peach and white with a black diamond plete interior. 352 3 in the floor.it had a big holley carb on it that i had rebuilt.when i put the carb on and tried to fire it up it backfired and blew one of the valve covers off, blew the oil fill cap over the hill and it shot the oil dipstick up through the trees.i gave up on that project, but i never gave up on FEs.next car was an old mooshine runner 63 1/2 galaxy with a solid lift 390 in it.

FE Technical Forum / REMOVE HEAD WITHOUT REMOVING INTAKE
« on: October 11, 2023, 01:05:25 PM »
i have a friend who has been a bracket racer sense 1980.he is one of those guys who can take his trans out between rounds and go through it and put it back in and run the same time next round.true bracket racing professional.he has a ford truck he uses to haul his car to the track,390 powered.he blew a heads gasket on his truck at a race earlier this summer.i walked over and looked and he had taken one head off without taking the intake off and replaced the head gasket and put it back on and its fine.i did not know this was possible but not idea for sure.anyone ever try anything like this?

mine was overheating at speed but cooled as soon as you slow down or stop-the bottom rad hose was sucking shut when i give it gas and opens back up at idle.i pulled over and raised the hood and it looked fine, then i reached over and revved up the carb and i saw the bottom hose moving.it was sucking shut every time i gave it gas.i put a spring in my bottom hose and it runs cool now.

« on: October 03, 2023, 10:02:54 AM »
the problem turned out to be the plug wires were bad,i guess causing unburnt fuel in headers.i had 4 wires that tested bad.it quit trying to runnoff immediately after changing the bad wires

i took my 850 apart and cleaned it,and i put a new set of NGKs in it.fired it up and it run like crap, backfire,no idle, awful.i thought i might check my msd plug wires with my ohms meter.and half of my wires were dead.i got a old set out and found enough good ones to make 8 total.fired it up and it ran like a top.smooth,crispy.i ordered a new set from summit last week, they were out of stock on the ones i tried to order, the sales rep suggested another set and sent me the wrong ones, they had male ends on dist end,and they dont fit the male ends on my MSD dist cap.i wondered why he asked my engine size,he must have looked up a set for a stock distributor.

Unleaded gasoline contains toluene as much as 35% in some pumps. They use it to cut gasoline and get rid of the byproduct (toluene). It burns sooty, but it is an octane booster. It's also quite nasty.
The higher the grade of fuel the more toluene it will have.
The more fuel you burn the more toluene you will burn and more soot you will make.
I have good success with NGK BKR6E  6962 in my BBM's making as much soot as I can. ;D

I have been running 93 no ethanol with 1/4 110 race fuel mix,i bet its loaded with that stuff your talking about.i have been wanting to try some NGKs.now that i have a part number,i will get a set.

same here ,i unbolt the idler and i can twist and move the starter till itr comes out.i have replaced my starter at least 5 times over the years with hooker supercomps.first couple times i unbolted the header, last 2 or3 times i just unbolted the idler arm and fished it out.
