Private Classifieds / Wanted- underhood wiring harness for '64 Galaxie FE
« on: November 29, 2013, 06:12:24 PM »
Looking for a mid to late 60's harness that isn't cracked and dried out, got that now.  Anyone out there have a "soft" under-hood harness complete?  I'm dealing with an older gen to alt conversion, alt is good would rather go with a good harness than switch to an internally regulated alternator.

And yet, when you think about it, sticking what you want into whatever you want is what got us here in the first place.  We happen to belong to a group that says let's get I done FE style in a Ford, and you can bet your hindquarters that there's strength and encouragement in numbers.  I am happy to be a part of this forum, my first car was a '69 390 LTD. I grew up on a farm, we made what we needed as we went and I genuinely appreciate the tech I've gained here.  Hell, this is Erie PA and I just saw a '67 Mercury for sale in a front yard that I couldn't get into, owner wasn't home.  So, I'm driving around with a basket of mushy apples I bought at a roadside stand in Northeast (a little burg just north and east of Erie) looking for a way to get under the hood.  It's in your blood, no way around it.

Whoa!  I was going to recommend a mid-70's Monza for a base platform ( ::)if memory serves, these were constructed mainly from recycled tinfoil and weighed in at about 9 pounds) but the camaro would definitely earn more style points.

The camaro would also likely send some of the more hard core chevy guys straight to therapy though.  They are used to seeing their brand in everything, but I'm pretty sure a cammer in any camaro would be a mortal sin.

"I should probably build a later model Mustang like that, just to get the weight advantage.  But they are so damned ugly LOL!"

I had pretty much the same reaction as 57yblock with a couple of sighs thrown in when I got my copy of Hot Rod.  Had to get all the way to N/A small block to see a Ford/Ford setup win.  But there again, it was in the Mustang.  Going on a 600 lb. diet and trading in your good looks for ugly might have a big impact on the anything but a Ford into a Ford trend.

And, in my opinion that big wedge poking up through the hood of an SN95 might cure that case of damnable ugliness ;D

The Gal looks great!  It also appears that someone has been painting that stretch of asphalt you're utilizing in your "light-em-up" photo 8).  As far as black goes, I couldn't agree more.  I'm partial to black on red.  Mine's got a strong 390 4 speed setup with a knock thrown in for extra excitement.  Anyway ml, it's like Drew said, ya just gotta build ya one-

FE Technical Forum / Re: Hooker Super Comp Race Headers on the Street

Gary, out of curiosity, which way did you end up going?

I'm running Hooker super comps on my Galaxie and can attest to Jay's input concerning street suitability.  Even on a car with that much room several packaging issues had to be addressed, and the collector flanges are the lowest point under the car.  I renewed the front suspension and have sufficient ground clearance but that's only because there's no way (yet ;) I'm going to yank the front end off the ground.

I'm trying to picture how you'd get Medusa's snakes into your Fairlane without performing some serious "adjustments" (not unlike those in Jay's photos).

Thanks for the kind words Lance.  As for friend Rick I think he'd make a great neighbor!  GJCAT427 I'm certain he ran 90 west to 271 to 71 south, so anyone along that route could easily have noticed him.  Think he left out about 4:00pm.-Len

Ouch! (on the wire pulled out of the connector!).  In my experience, bad luck tastes a little more sour when you make your own.  Wouldn't have mattered though with the lean condition and no real time to figure it out.  Thanks for posting the trip, trials and photos, always a great read 8)

Denis & Lance,
Will do later on today after work.  Wattsburg is in the northwest corner of the state about 10 miles south and east of Erie.
Thanks,
Len

Thanks Jay, I appreciate your efforts.  It seemed to work later yesterday by making photos smaller and posting individual photos with a single reply.  I see now that it didn't work.  Problem must be on my end if others aren't having issues, but I don't yet see what I'm doing wrong.

Rodney, I'll email some photos to you later today, don't have the photos on my work computer.

Thanks,

Len
