I was only trying to get $$ spent, I put the reserve slightly over what I had into it to cover fee's etc. I did not expect it to hit reserve but just a place where I might be able to re-coup most of the $$

At the time I listed it I needed funds for my 482 Project. Since listing I have sold 2 big ticket items so could have kept it around just for the cool factor.

Yes, I will be watching this one myself  ;D ;D

Jay, A good testimony to the quality and desire of the Adapter. It is now @ 600.00 only 12 hours in.

I had bids within 7 minutes of listing it.

I set out trying to re-coup what I had in it along with any listing fee's etc

I have never had this much interest on a ebay item before.

I am sure a year or two from now when I can actually use one I will be kicking myself . . LOL

Sad to say but having a major house cleaning. Selling the engine and vehicle this adapter was supposed to be for.

At my current speed of getting projects done I am selling all but 2 which will keep me busy until I am 178 yrs old.

535.00 + the ride to a forum member. Or do the ebay bid and see where it goes.

A little photo op since the manifold adaptor from Jay showed last week and I finally dragged my 390 soon to be 416 out of the cobwebs.

A good time to see what the Chromed Mercury valve covers looked like with Jays FE adaptor manifold along with my freshly built headers.

Really really impressed with the quality of the manifold adaptor! Thanks again Jay!

Really, really nice job on those headers!

Thanks Jay!

Made a bit more progress. Headers pretty much done now just have to add a bit to collectors.

Quite the puzzle but was able to make them with only 2 welds after the 1 7/8-2' step

One pipe may have an extra weld as screwed up a cut . .

Those heads do not appear to be NOS. never used

They have at least been on a engine and torqued down. The reason the guides have been knurled, there was wear . .

All those pics and not a single one of the combustion chamber?

zero interest . . .

I will most likely just add it to a 352 or 416 FE and drop it in the '66 Truck.. Just because

The engine's almost ready to go to the dyno:

I'm gathering up the pieces: tranny rebuild kit from TCI, wide ratio gear set from Broader; picked up the 3.70 posi and axles with new bearings/seals/etc so we can get the rearend back together, then start putting pieces back on the frame..   :P

POR sprayed onto a sandblasted surface I do not have a problem with. Looks great!
(its the POR over rusty surface I have the problem with)

Engine looks great too!

After 30 tough days I was finally able to get the headers tacked together in place.

That right side was a total booger. A lot of room where it exits the port but after that was very very tight. I had to rotate the collector in order for it to fit.
Engine is offset 2 1/2" to right side for steering box clearance.

Not enough room for 4 pipes to fit between trans and crossmember. Had to go up and over.

I still need to get the cooling lines in there some how.

I picked up this kit for use in my 1966 F100 with a 416 FE. Its all new in boxes, never bolted on.

More of a universal kit that says Corvette~Viper

T4's

Intercooler & Aluminum piping, clamps etc

For how far behind I am on all my other FE projects this one is so far down the road that I should just let it go to someone that can use it.

850.00 For complete setup

Thor, I haven't made much progress since the Drag Week thrash began a few months ago, but the HR intake adapters are at the top of the list at the moment.  I'm shooting to have them finished by the time the PRI show rolls around in December.  We will see what happens...

Where are you at on the standard Intake Adaptors? If I remember correct my # is mid to high 80's

FE Technical Forum / Re: Why aren't more people building SOHCs?
« on: September 17, 2014, 10:26:42 PM »
It's been about 5-6 years since the aftermarket started stepping up with SOHC parts, so that it would be possible to build a complete SOHC engine from aftermarket parts.  The SOHC is definitely the king of the FE engines, and I for one figured that we would start to see a whole bunch of them in various 1960s Ford vehicles once the aftermarket parts became available.  There certainly are more of them out there than there used to be, but not as many as I figured there would be by now.  What gives?  Why aren't more people building these killer engines?  I posted the poll above to try to get an idea of what people are thinking on this.  If you have a different reason than those listed, please post in this thread to explain.  I'm very curious about this...

With out a doubt if the cost was not what it is I would have a SOHC in my pickup or other ford~mercury product.

My 2nd choice would be a Boss9

My 482 cost in excess of 12k to build and that was in 2009 $$  All that for 500 something HP

Back in 1992 I build a 700hp daily driver 460 for well under 10k

I currently have a half dozen FE's

I am currently doing a  v-6 that will put down same power to the wheels as my 482 for fraction of the cost (roughly 1/3) & get over 20mpg doing it.

I will probably always own a FE but HP per $$ is very high.

Finally, Made a slight amount of progress on header build.

I have the first step in 1 7/8" done on right side and the left header is all in and tacked together. Just needs final weld.

Very pleased with how it fits.

Now for the much tighter  right side which has 2 1/2" less room including transmission and also the starter taking up a lot of space.

crappy cell phone pics . . .
