Always gotta check it- especially sideoilers. I have two at .040, both centeroilers- one needs a small crack in the valley repaired, has flattops, C4 iron crank and big bolt rods, basic rebuilt V-drive engine, had a 324/500 cam in it. Also has scores in one cylinder, looks like it lost pin clips. The other is in my Galaxie, was built for a Falcon drag car in 1975, ran 3 years running 10.80's around 126, no maintenance. Sat unassembled for a year, got put back together with the same rings when I needed an engine for my F250 Highboy 4x4, was in there for many years (and smoked a 911S one night), and has been in my Galaxie for a long time, still with the 1975 rings, still thunders pretty good. I do have a set of custom big dome Wisecos at .050, got them at a swap as they were installed in a sideoiler that lasted 6 passes before splitting a cylinder wall

I have two sets of the wide-body Dove HDs with the head stud end stands, probably second best as you put it, I am told they are pretty bulletproof up to about .700, pretty strong setup. One set is new, the other is a nice takeoff I got from Barry. If you're interested, we can talk

I'm thinking either T-Rex or simply Dino Power heads- the FE is of course the old dinosaur engine- proudly by its fans, derisively by the Chebbrainwashed. Love the idea of a T-Rex that will bite your Chebbie on the ass  ;D Would also make for a great logo opportunity on the end of the head

"Cam - This is a Comp custom grind using their ZT series lobes.  Specs are advertised duration 304/314, duration at 0.050" 272/282, lift 0.723/0.735.  This is a very aggressive profile.  "

I have a Comp with the same duration numbers, but .795 and slightly less (memory fade) lift numbers- guess it will be a little rowdy, too. Thinking for my Falcon, the 505 with the Kinsler 351C sprint car injectors

Just cleaned up one of those Wico X mags about a month ago, swapped into a cherry John Deere B popper that wouldn't pop- clean up the fur inside inside the mag and blow it out, check it with the paper clip trick, popopopopopop....

I really don't now a ton about modern diesels, but to be honest that benefits me.  Few under 60 years old know much about fully mechanical diesels.  Our last of the old guard is retiring next month.... Leaves me at the top of the ladder, 30 years his junior.

Still have all my old books for the old cable dozers & scrapers, D6, D8, DW20 etc, cable units etc. There's an art to adjusting the brake and clutch on a cable unit, adjusting the racks on the old MI pumps- then we get into pony engines and their drive setups, compression release. Spent a lot of time clearing and ripping for vineyards with an old D8 14A

These are the HD, wide body, fasten to the end head bolt setups. Selling to fund T&Ds, as I have several set of heads that are already cut for them

One set is unused, was mocked up on an engine but never run. $950, including shipping to the lower 48

Second set is a takeoff I got from Barry, $800, same deal on included shipping

Interesting trades always considered

Might want to reconsider the Yanking thing, considering the mentality of the Chebbrainwashed  types we all have to deal with, they could spin that pretty good lol.. Maybe something like 21st Century Dinosaur or similar- let the Chebbie guys do the yanking :o

FE Technical Forum / T&D or Dove HD rockers for BBMs?
« on: January 07, 2017, 05:19:04 PM »
Looking at options, and haven't seen much info on using T&Ds on BBM heads. Quandary is I already have two sets of Dove HDs, one new set and the other good used, which would eliminate the need to cut the heads. The BBMs look like they have almost but not quite enough, extra meat to install inserts for T&Ds without cutting the head, which would make the decision a lot easier, but if they would fit, would take a fair amount of work to accomplish- too bad BBM did not include this like BT did? Anyone run the Dove HDs with .800 lift SR with good results? What is actually needed to run T&Ds on the BBMs?

« on: January 02, 2017, 02:31:36 PM »
Well, a gift I gave another- GF's sister (there are four girls total, only one is defective) I nicknamed Grumpy Cat- thinks she's hot stuff  :o injected boobs etc, but as soon as she opens her mouth, NO WAY. So for Christmas I got her the Grumpy Cat book. Their mom (90) saw it an laughed her butt off, says hey that's you!!! and stole the book and took it home. So Grumpy bitched and snarked for a few days, so she got a visit from my stuffed skunk, got a pretty good holler and dammit out of that. Then I hung a rubber tarantula in her shower curtain so it would pop out on entry- REALLY got some hollerin' on that one- and bitchandbitchandbitch about everything. GF helped out by moving all the laser-aligned stuff in the pantry, and the OCD alarm went off LOUDLY. Coupe de grace, she got a visit from the Toilet Monster (search)- you've heard of a blood-curdling scream, well, I've heard it now- even ran out of breath and gurgled at the end. Now she doesn't speak to me, which is my Christmas present to myself lol...

We used to run with a guy in the early 70's who had a 534 in an F800 10 whl dump, and the semi guys were running Maxidynes, 335 Cummins, 8V71Ns etc. He had a set of cutouts on it, with the cutout pipes run up between the cab and body, and out the right side about window height. Once in a while one of the semi guys would flat-foot it and pass him on a hill, laughing or shooting him the bird- so he would open it up and pass them back, and just as he pulled alongside, wide open, open the cutouts right in their open window- nobody passed him more than once hehehe
