FE Technical Forum / Favorite hydraulics?
« on: July 01, 2018, 01:21:35 AM »

I haven't used any juice flat tappets in a long time, but need a set for a budget 428 for my Highboy. Already have a new 268H, and a take-off set of springs from Ebock heads. Looking at the Crower Camsavers, but probably not necessary. Anybody use the Summit house-brand lifters? Regular Crowers or Lunatis maybe...

Main market for those things is where they came from, medium truck and industrial use. Still a few trucks running around with them, probably more industrial stuff. My neighbor's shop builds all the FTs for the frost protection wind machines in the valley, so he's always looking for 361-391 cores, but value is not high. He also converts them to propane, the kits aren't expensive. I would put them on cl and see if you get any bites, keep renewing the ad

Vendor Classifieds / Ah, sand...
« on: May 30, 2018, 08:43:08 AM »
Many types and specifications of sand- mason sand for masonry use, utility sand (insert PG&E or your local provider) for bedding and backfilling underground conduits, fill sand, a little chunky for general construction fill etc. Clay content is touchy, it helps as a binder to hold the sand in shape, but it is also highly expansive, so too little and the sand won't hold shape, too much and it expands when wet and shrinks as it dries- a fine line to walk

I have both

How thick will the plastic be? I would be interested in a set for my test stand, to monitor oiling, but would think moisture would cloud them up. Should be simple to tap in a couple fittings to pull a little vacuum to remove the moisture? What will they sell for?

Where are you located? I might be interested, just to have original stuff for mine. I have a nice T10 with a Hurst shifter, and a Gal shifter, original bell to the car etc, but yours is pretty complete. I have lots of trading material, including a 64 Gal toploader

I did not say sure way to tell- I said more likely. There were also some kinda rare variations, 359, 389, different "Duty" levels etc. Still more likely to be a 361 than a 391, but could be 330, 359, 389, or intake changed
