Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: How do yall ship an FE head please
« on: March 05, 2021, 04:31:48 PM »
Ricky , I roll mine in carboard. Then find a box that is snug fitting to the already rolled head. box it up each head separate. I have never had a issue doing them this way. Thanks Lance

Mike or anyone for that matter I have seen a lot of the plenums cut out or cut down I should say. What is the purpose of that and does it hurt or help? Seems like I saw this done in some early to mid 70s magazine article . I have a high riser intake thst has been done that way. Thanks Lance

FE Technical Forum / Re: 428 flywheel
« on: February 11, 2021, 03:05:36 PM »
The rods are different, they use cap screw lemans rods. The weight of the flywheel and location of the weight are also a little different. I don't have one of each to measure or I would post that . The reason there is a different number is not to say it's numbers correct. Ford made a different number which means there was a difference in the two parts.

If the flywheels where the same there would be no specific SCJ flywheel which there is . Ford would not have just made another PN for no reason. There has to be some difference in weight or something to warrant the change that brought on the new PN and the SCJ specific flywheel.

On the factory heads I remember there being a stamping like a set of initials maybe and a number. I know the number was the sequence of the build , but wat was the letters? Seems like it was inside a circle or something to that effect? Thanks Lance

Not that I can add much to this, but my 69 Ranchero Rio Grande has the blacked out grille, and stripe on the hood just like your Jay. The hood was blacked out in the center, as was the scoop. I know on those at least they did have the hood blacked out, they also had the lower black GT stripe.
