Controlling the air is kind of clever.  Like an IAC that's always in operation.  Duty cycle control of carburetors on the fuel side was common OEM practice before EFI took over and development ceased.  For a little while Holley offered a duty cycle kit for four barrels that used repurposed OE parts to allow dashboard control of mixture, but without the O2 feedback control of this kit.  I'd wager you could blend the two approaches to get to something really cool, but that would defeat the simplicity of his deal.

Barry, you would really like this kid.
He made this system and to prove his point he installed a lawn mower carb. Idea was a mower carb would draw so much air on his 302 it would be to rich to run.
He even ran power tour with that setup.
Of course no one understood the reasoning and was like “he runs a mower carb to get economy! Cuz it’s small.”

Anyway, he ran power tour this year with the carb on a six foot pipe. It’s absurd.

Yes, I would say that is a somewhat common view...that a business would try to sell their product...lol
I get what you're saying though. He's obviously having fun doing what he does. More power to him.

Like myself, he has a full time job.
As I said. Not actively trying to sell.

I’m not actively trying to sell my services either for the same reason. No need to. Also why I turn away 75% of the people who want work done.

So the dynamic he finds himself in…

He made videos of some ideas he had.
I encouraged him to do so, I just love it when “common knowledge” is incorrect. Like “small carb=lean.”

His videos explained exactly what the tools were.
He was nagged to death by thousands to make his parts and control system available.
He did not want to be bothered selling any of it.
Eventually he caved and has produced a bunch, but there are 100 people wanting it for every one he can make. So I am not sure why he would bother advertising stuff or trying to explain what he has had in videos previously.

I suspect it is a common view that if you are in business you are actively trying to sell stuff.
I find myself in the opposite situation, I simply cannot do 80% of the work requested, so I just focus on doing the 20% as well as I can.

Tom, that is not how Luke’s setup works at all.

His system is pretty trick.

Yeah, I know the 850s.
I have four sets in process.

I looked up the 6109s. Eh double pumpers. Cool.
But the whole reason to use 660s is to mount inline. Otherwise double pumpers just make more sense.

21
No I have not. Are they center squirters?

660s are pretty awesome for a simple track setup.

$400-$600 is typical.

I assume the throttle shafts and air bales are destroyed, so I price accordingly.
The restored ones I sell are nice, but very expensive for most folks, probably near what new ones would cost.
For race carbs, they are sure hard to beat.

Value vs value….

An early 3310 downleg? $125
First issue 1850? $50-$75
C9-U carb? $125-$250
First issue double pumper? $150-$250

None of these carbs are worth much money wise. Usage wise they are pretty excellent.
A fine case of “better value to keep it.”  All of them are fantastic runners. No tricks needed, just set them as designed and they will do fine.

The double pumper in question?
With no real info, if I needed one? $250-$350
If I didn’t? $100

I’m plating today and tomorrow for carb parts. I have some logs to do later in the week.

Main thing is if you can get the end fitting off.
I can plate it with the fitting on, but I prefer not to as I like to run some wire brushes down the tube.

Same with linkage. I’ve plated 100s of them here.

As Mike mentioned, I have gotten 5 years out of my 15 and 30 liter Vevor units.
These live outside and often run 12-13 hours a day.
I have heard the new versions of these are junk and not nearly as good, so I hate to suggest anything.

But these ones are awesome for the money

Jay and Drew, thanks for the reply. Drew, the idle mods I understand, but if I'm lean at wot,why do I make pvcr smaller? Not being argumentative, just want to learn and understand. Also could you expand on"your ratios are on the wrong planet".Do you mean yes, way too lean? again just want to understand. Thanks again,Tom.

Yes regarding idle.
Your WOT gauge reading needs more investigative work.
I rarely see stock 1850s used for 2x4 show lean at power unless secondaries are flopping open prematurely. Normally the opposite.
As often stated, wideband is a tool for tuning.

Given the cam you have, your a/f ratios are on the wrong planet.

Here is a bit I wrote:

You will likely need a rich no load ratio to run decently in gear.

Oh I get it. Hence me saying not knocking you, I totally understand. Always too many irons in the fire.

I can build a great c6 for someone, but I won’t….
Simply do not have the time to shift gears so to speak.

Love your stuff, keep it up. I do think with a few posts I may have inadvertently hyped up your timing covers too recently due to a customer’s engine.

Back when he first decided to make valve covers, I suggested baldies vs pentroof style.
There are many made to look like his but no cast baldies.
I would buy ten sets for resale just to get the ball rolling.
Heck, I’ve probably advertised the clear valve covers (accidentally) more than anyone else. I’d take 20 sets of those.
Literally, people on my page are begging for the clear valve covers.

Not knocking Jay, he has a life and other projects. Just putting it out there.

I just get messages probably 15-20 times a month asking if I’d sell mine.
