So, I'm having issues uploading pictures. I'll give a quick version of what we did on the dyno today.

I ran 92 pump gas,  its a great pacific northwest day in terms of weather.  Kinda overcast about 77 degrees.  Air is fairly dry.
The best she did was with a Holley xp 850.  A random dyno carb on Britco's shelf.  (Yes I Bought it when we finished).
I'm kinda surprised peak torque curve was at 34 degrees, nearly no difference down at 32.
The best pull was 534 h.p. at 5,500.  Best torque was at 4,300 at 602 ft lbs.
I'm super excited about how this turned out.  Better than I was hoping for.  Sounds like a beast, but is mild at an idle still.
Even when it was warm,  I had 90psi oil pressure at 5,500  30 weight break in oil.
I'm working on pics, I have 1 short video also.
Average 564lbs and 492 HP  from 3700 to 5500.  Never turned it past 5700,  Im sure I was running out of cylinder head.

Somewhere in my dad's shop there's an old I think Accel dual point tach drive, and a Moroso 10k tach.  I wonder if I could convert the distributor to electronic, and put that in the Fairlane. He had it in his 64 Fairlane, and in the 75 F-250 Im restoring.  I better go visit.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Balance question
« on: September 30, 2022, 02:24:17 PM »
Last month the crank I had balanced the mallory was (2) 7/8 slugs and (2) 1/2 slugs.  Scat crank with light pistons.  This quantity of mallory was $175.  The balance job itself not including parts was a flat $600.  This was the entire rotating assembly, including the clutch, which actually needed alot of work.  This was probably not the cheapest in town.

Hey Folks if we're still playing guess the horsepower, my 4x4 build should be on the dyno in 2 weeks.

428 A scratch .020.  Bore is 4.155  Sonic checked very well. This is the block I put the girddle on.
Scatt 4.250 cast crank
Molnar 6.760 rods
diamond dish pistons.  on paper we're 10.3:1       .005 down the hole
Comp Hydraulic roller    233in  237ex   .614in   .617ex  113   Thanks Brent!  morrel hydro rollers.
Edelbrock performer rpm.  I did some port work, and chamber work myself.  no flow numbers. Stock size valves.
Edelbrock street master. I gasket matched, blended under the carburetor, using an hvh super sucker.  Standard 850 Holley for Dyno
Precision oil pump, stands, shafts, rockers. Comp 3/8 pushrods.
Milodon 8 qt 4x4 pan.

Great info, thanks.  I’ve confirmed the cam bolt will now be 7/16-14.  I have an MSD billet distributor that was in my 390, I need to switch gears out still, for the hydraulic roller.  Glad to see I’ve still got someone keeping their eye on me.

Got the block back this week.  Needed a main line hone, after I installed the girdle and main studs.  Decked it so the pistons are down only .005.  A cometic gasket gives me 10.4:1.  I guess the only thing I don’t love about this build is the Edelbrock performer heads. I have a Streetmaster intake that I gasket matched, and cleaned the inside of the plenum up.  Hydraulic roller, precision oil pump rockers stands shafts. Should have pushrods Tuesday.  I found out there’s a guy 20 minutes away with a super flow dyno.  Might just have to go break it in that way.

Can I assume the 4x4 oil pan is no longer around? Thanks

Just ran across an Edelbrock f427 manifold on the local offer-up.  Are they wall art? Or do they compare to modern Edelbrock intakes. Thanks!

So, this has probably been discussed before, but I’m not finding it.  1967 Fairlane, I’ve been looking at radiator options.  Cold Case looks nice, wondering what people have had success with.  Nice BBM that will build good power, would like to cruise around town with it. Thanks!

FE Technical Forum / 428cj heads
« on: March 27, 2022, 01:31:33 AM »
There’s a set of C80E 6090 N heads for sale pretty close to my house.  The seller says they’re absolutely original.  I find that hard to believe. Let’s pretend they’re unaltered from Ford.  I don’t need them for a restoration, but I like old Ford stuff. The fella wants $2,000.  I probably would not pay that.  I don’t like asking this kind of question, but what do you think is fair, assuming they’re as described?
