I have one and I chose to run it because of its provenance. It was given to me my friend Gene Egbert (RIP) and he told he removed it from the Ricart Ford Thunderbolt when it was converted to automatic trans. Not the safest but definitely the coolest for me.

Hey fe-starliner, I've nothing to offer your friend but would like some info from you. There is a thread on the forum asking whether headers for a 1961 Galaxie would fit a 1960 model. Since your profile shows that you own both models, can you offer direct information on this? Do the frame rails differ in those two model years? Any info would be appreciated and would educate me and others. Thanks, Val.

The Hooker pipes require that you cut the inner fender. Crites groups the body-style from 60-64 so the Hookers MAY fit.

Nice car but the owner seemed to go 385 purely based on price. Surely, at this level of tune, a 520c.i. Lima CAN'T be cheap. What are we talking dollar wise between the two platforms?

Several years ago over on fordfe.com a member posted very detailed pics of precisely this subject. I believe all previous posts were archived and can be searched. Good luck.

"He says Crites requires Crites mounts to be welded in,"- This statement is not true. I used regular mounts with the sets I've used. Slight carving on lower control arm for no.6 pipe. If the owner is squeamish about ground clearance, look elsewhere. Test fit BEFORE ceramic coat.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Rocker shafts
« on: January 03, 2021, 04:43:48 PM »
Val, what shafts were these? I am currently working on a 427 with a 282S and planned to go with HD shafts and no end stands. The pictures show it is definitely a weak point around the stand holes.

I got them back in the 80s from Dove. They had a guy named John Ciacchi working their booth at the swap-meets. Chrom-moly, gun drilled, allen screw plugs. I got great use out of them on several engines. I replaced them with standard duty shafts(on hand at the time) and my engine builder's end stands. Trouble-free until this which was totally unrelated to the shaft:

A jumbo shaft. Unsupported, springs spec'd for a 282S. Taken from my "Autopsy" folder.
