Offers or trades considered...

He advertises on the FE Fanatics page on Facebook a lot. I attempted to purchase a set of Hiriser stands awhile back and was offered a bunch of beat up junk. Friends have had better luck since but I'd still be cautious with anything he digs up.

Private Classifieds / Hiriser heads, Bullet "baby roller", TD's
« on: February 25, 2019, 03:21:26 PM »
I bought these from Blair and I'm trying to recoup as much of my investment as possible. Asking $8k for the pile...make offer.
I'd give top dollar in trade value for a set of unported Hirisers that have never been blown up to start over with. Looking for bare set that have never been worked on, no cracks, seats etc. Original Ford heads only please, 63K or original 64F heads perferred 70's reissue considered. *Update I found a cherry set of heads so I'm no longer in the market*

These are 64 F heads, both sides are ported, Ferrea valves, Crower springs, dampeners and retainers, Manley cups. They have seats in the intakes and exhaust, a bowl blend and comp valve job. Blair's bushed TD rockers cut down to fit and his Bullet "baby roller" grind.

Yes, stud kit would match the stands or a spacer could be used on top to take up the distance. My setup came with studs and spacers.

Just a quick FYI on eBay headers while each and every set is different be aware that any tube joint is suspect to being blocked due to careless fitting. Often 304 Stainless flanges = nickelplated steel. 304 tubing = very brittle nonmagnetic mystery alloy that requires high wetting temps and cracks with minor stress. Stainless fasteners are nickel plated steel too and the gasket set is of equally low quality... You also must verify sparkplug clearance to RnR as tubes are often in the way as is flange design on various non FE specific sets.
Pictured are blocked tubes from a set of small Ford Tri-y's for early Mustang.

X2 on the sheet metal comment... I get the biggest kick out guys that say "they were red one day and black the next". That is a true statement but they try to imply that all NOS is equal. The fact is the farther away from the original date of manufacture of a given body design being in production the less likely the part is to match up not only in terms of overall fit but of every bodyline and detail.

With block inconsistencies consider how any business you have ever worked for suffers for a period of time with a management change or FNG. There is always that person that trys to change what works or is in a rush justified or not so quality suffers for it.

Some cars have a certain look to them that works while they may not be the best build. Others are feats of engineering that as a whole may not. Accomplishing both is more difficult than many realize but then we come to personal taste. I'd be hard pressed not to turn a Sohc T build into a blown Gasser but that's not exactly original or a challenge.

Being able to appreciate a car you may not favor takes a degree of discipline. I look at the time it would take me to hammer out the same pieces to the same level and the buckets of cash to have the large billet pieces made. Look at the "Grandmaster," the car doesn't flow very well at all but it fits together like it's a lazer cut jigsaw puzzle. I don't like it or that cartoon Streetrod style of build but that level of work deserves the recognition it received. Many others I can't say the same for but I try to focus on the effort and skill put in vs what I like. With this T I'm kinda digging the 70's showcar vibe mostly as it's something a little different.

It's for shock and awe guys but I think the effort and packaging there is both awesome and impressive! He also effectively lowered the engine in the chassis significantly decreasing the usual bell intrusion to the footboard. I don't see an interior shot but low as it is with the big rake the floor is likely still flat.

That's a show car for you though... the winner is not always the "best" built car there but the one that draws the most attention. Take a look at the 39 Chevy Riddler winner, yes winner from a few years ago in person once.... they were too lazy to fit the waterjet cut left taillight to curve/bodyline of the fender mostly as they designed the piece to fit right side only and the fenders are not symmetrical. Lol Even the side windows that were urethaned in the guy didn't know enough to wet the tip of his finger with body solvent to smooth it out on a $450,000+/- car built to win the show! With tons of other obvious flaws, bad paint, bad fit, and mistakes in the pocket milled emblems I can not believe this  car won a large local show let alone the greatest award there is! From ten feet away though the car is low and mean with big ass custom made wheels so people raved over it. Basically "the Scorpion" of the 2000's...

To the same end a shop I worked for entered a 93 Camaro Pro Streeted Promod body build with this hideous rip away flame purple/yellow paint job, a bellybutton dressed/polished blown BBC and a lexan trans tunnel. This was a wild street car taken on whim and the fiberglass was raw under the body. No wrap around graphics or any of the other must haves of the time. Still Lobeck built the same nice but paint by numbers boring 32 he always
did so the ugliest Camaro ever built made great 8, won club choice, and people's choice. That was year Poises Extremeliner took the Don Riddler award but another runner up was nothing more than a monochromatic slammed squarebody GM crewcab dually. Lol Some Fugly stuff back then buddy!

This T on the other hand looks like something from Lil' John Buttera with some modern touchs. Two thumbs way up for whoever built it!

Hey Richard,

I'd feel rather confident that one of those interested parties from before would be very happy with these.

My guess looking at this is that the center stands being separate pieces are lowered leaving X amount of clearance for the rocker body and the remainder of the necessary height reduction was taken from the lower support bar.

By design you can only take material off the bottom of most MR style sets being one piece which lowers the end stand to a point where depending on width will contact the upper outermost headbolts/stud-nut. On your set the base to centerline is the same but... that bottom bar section I'll bet sits a touch higher than usual. Combine that with the tilted end supports there and you are solving the clearance issue without a notch to the bottom edge of the end of the shaft support.

For reference here is the notched area on mine but again mine are a one piece MR design which when modified to fit Hiriser lowers the end support the whole distance.

 Hey Richard,

Mine are 1.25 base to centerline and just to be clear I only have that one set of Hiriser BP/TD rocker assemblies to go on.

The 1.50 was the rough measurement you listed for base to centerline of your set on the other forum. If yours are 1.25 then they match my set FWIW.

Yes, I agree it's an original late version casting.

I'd like to know more about the crank/assembly.
