I received a message from him last week, I think he usually slows down around 8 or 9 at night and is making calls then.

If you have a CobraJet ram air car and want to run an aftermarket intake I believe the BT is the only one that positions everything in the hole correctly, except a bit tall.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Stainless header bolts?

Maybe okay on cast iron but I'm not sure I'd use them in a head with thread inserts. We have all kinds of issues with stainless bolts galling and seizing up in tools that see temperatures less than four hundred F. We try to always pitch the stainless and use alloy bolts before they come out, insert and all.

I just used a short pump 60's chebby pulley with the center hole opened up. Line up was perfect.

I have two in one of mine, opposite ends of same bank. Last time it was down I had them re-done by a more reputable shop but I had not had any trouble at that point either.

Probably my post on other site. I had also paid in full in advance, memory isn't that good but guessing it was August or before.
I had happened to follow-up this week and was told a shipment was in the country. My opinion only is that it is not a big group
like when they were initially released. Was contacted a few days ago to confirm shipping details and paid for that part of it then.
Was told block was in route yesterday. Doug did call with the carrier reference number, should expect it at the depot in Michigan on the 19th.

BBM recently said that their next batch on iron blocks should be available the end of this month.

So based on the chart Bill Conley posted on E85 you could run 8 plus pounds of boost at 9 to 1 static. Don't know how available it is to everyone but here in West Michigan they brew it locally. Next next FE to run will be E85 only.

What if you ran it on E85 only? The alcohol has a cooling effect besides the race gas level octane. Never really seen that discussed with regard to a Roots boost.

FE Technical Forum / Best source for 3 1/2" stainless exhaust components
« on: January 12, 2016, 01:47:44 PM »
I'm building a 3 1/2" T-304 exhaust system from my merge collectors back. I already have an X-pipe from Burn's but now I need some expanded 3 1/2" sections to slip over my collectors. Burn's has "slips" listed on their website but the shipping from CA to Michigan is almost as much as the parts. Because I'm piecing this together figuring as I go it will likely require numerous small shipments. Hoping to find someone closer with decent pricing that might ship by USPS or something else a little more reasonable.
Will be needing a bunch of mandrel bends and straight sections too. When I was shopping for the X-pipe I did notice that some vendors did not mandrel bend in 3 1/2" stainless. Thanks for your input.

I'm building my 12.6 to 1 461 for E-85. Here in Michigan it's available at most stations. I can see the smoke coming out of the stacks of the Ethanol plant on my way to work!

FE Technical Forum / Re: ATI Damper Discussion
« on: November 13, 2015, 12:11:56 PM »
The stock FE timing pointer I had had enough material so I could file it back to the correct position. For the pulley I used a mid-sixties Chebby short water pump style lower pulley with the center bored out to match the ATI. Only needed a single groove and the lineup to the stock Ford water pump pulley and alternator was perfect without adjusting the space length.

Ean, Blair works with REF too. He is having them build a set for me using custom flanges he sourced to mate up to the BT heads he did for me. He also provided me with a very work over Dominator flanged Victor to match up with my BT's intake ports that are moved over and apparently raised from the stock location. My application did require offset rockers and lifters but I believe similar results can be had with Pro-Ports without so much weld and epoxy.

I think I mean to say then that I want to install an 8 pt. roll bar not cage. That way I would be increasing the stiffness thru the middle, still tieing into the frame connectors but staying away from the dash.

I had looked at S&W but it was implied that their 10 pt. intruded on the dash. Considering ScotiaFE's comment about why not a 6 pt., my main concern was to stiffen up the unibody. This car is a splice job thru the windshield posts and middle of the rocker area. It started out as a 390 GT 4sd parts car I bought about 10 years ago for the roof. It was really rusty up front but because it was a late June car it had reinforced towers and a nine housing just like my July R-code so I decided to rebuild it instead of the FB I had that needed the roof. Found a near rust free 68 Cougar front half and a lot of reproduction metal later I have a rust free roller that probably could use a little stiffening. Thinking about it now a 10 pt. won't really help me achieve my goal any better than a 8 pt. although I do like the fact I could tie the 8 pt. into the frame connectors over a 6. Later if I decided I wanted the additional windshield and roof bars they could always be added to an 8 pt., couldn't they? Thanks for your input. Bill
