Best way to figure out the power valve spring pressure is to find a stretch of freeway with a long up hill section. Drive up the hill and slowly accelerate while watching the vacuum gauge. At some point past 1/2 throttle you'll feel (or hear) the need for the power valve. One thing to remember is that the power valve is fairly slow to open. If you test it with a vacuum pump you can see that they only start to open at the rated number but they might not be fully open as long as there is any vacuum. The low rated ones are especially susceptible to this. A 2.5 power valve might only be half open at WOT while a 6.5 is most likely fully open at WOT.

It had been sitting outside for a few years so it needs some work before it is ready for the 482 but it will be a fun project to work on. Price was right.

Not the best photos since the car is sitting inside the shop but you'll get the idea.

My 470 inch Mopar engines peak at 6800 rpm with Trick Flow heads and similar cams so I'm just extrapolating but it isn't apples to apples. We'll be using the new Trick Flow FE heads as soon as they ship so the power curve will probably be unknown until we get it on the dyno. Trick Flow might have some dyno time on the heads but I don't think anyone else will at that time.

If the power peaks at 6200 then I doubt we'll hit 650 hp but it should still be a fun engine. Engine is going in a 63 1/2 Galaxie so we can't get too radical with the cam! Need to keep it somewhat street friendly.......

True, it is only 4 bolts holding it down but the big steel casting seems rigid enough to handle the load. We'll find out once the engine is together. This 482 inch FE is getting a XR292R Comp street roller cam so we'll be close to 0.700 lift. Not sure how high the engine will spin, maybe 6800 RPM? That should be enough to put some stress on the valvetrain. Not sure where the power will end up, maybe 650 hp. Tunnel wedge intake with Edelbrock carbs.

Yep that is me. I'm mostly a Mopar guy although I was a Ford guy before I got into Mopars. I bought a '56 F-100 when I was 14 and swapped a 351C-4V into it when I was in the 10th grade. Had to do the engine swap by myself since my dad wasn't really into cars. We also had a Torino Cobra with a 428 CJ and 4 speed that we bought off a used car lot for $500. Probably be worth a bit more than that today if we had kept it!

Comp said I got the first set shipped out the door so it might be a while before other engine builders start getting them. Summit does show CCA-19046 as a good part number but they don't have a picture available yet and they are not in stock. $1250 from Summit.

I assumed the stands were aluminum but I checked with a magnet and they are magnetic. So they are either cast iron or cast steel. The finish is very nice so it looks like a high quality casting, maybe investment cast? Here is a closer look at the stand.

I'm not sure on the shaft diameter, I haven't taken a unit apart yet. The rocker width appears to be just a little less than 1.200 inches.

I have my order in for a set of these heads. I'll post some pictures as soon as they show up. Going on the 482 that we're building.

Also got a SCAT rotating assembly to build a 482. The SCAT crank and rods are nice but the Mahle pistons are super nice! Metric ring pack, strut design, coated, etc. Killer parts for the price.

Looks great. The stands appear to be cast aluminum rather than billet so they must be planning to sell a bunch of these. Very nice machine work from what I see so far.
