FE Technical Forum / Re: Tri-Power Intake Manifold ID needed
« on: February 01, 2022, 09:35:37 PM »
I will also add that rare also doesn't always equal super valuable. Is it worth more than a standard 3x2 intake I say yes. Is it worth 3k I say no. Like I said to begin with it's worth more off a engine to talk about and say that's cool. It didn't work great or it would have been used. Kool piece none the less

Like Alan said it is a pre production intake manifold. The idea didnt work well and was scrapped. It is low riser , not high riser or the like. Neat intake , and very cool, but probably more so off the car or engine so you could talk about it.

Private Classifieds / 1967 Cougar Dan Gurney replica
« on: January 13, 2022, 09:27:49 AM »
Helping a friend list a car for sale. He is a very very honest person and the build is top notch. These are his words below and I can put you in touch with him for more info if needed. Please don't tire kick on this he is losing a substantial amount of money on this build . If truly interested please call Alex Gabbard at 865 nine eight six 661one or email him at gppress@att.net. If those for some reason don't work reach out to me , thanks Lance

During late 1966, Mercury launched its new, European styling Cougar as a 1967 model that was so popular that sales nearly doubled the entire brand sales of 1966 models. Cougar was selected as Motor Trend magazines' Car of the Year, and to help launch the new nameplate, L-M Division offered a special edition Group 2 high performance version as the platform for a team of cars to race the highly popular Trans-American Sedan Championship. L-M's racing boss, Fran Hernandez sponsored Bud Moore of Spartanburg, SC to race the schedule in addition to other non-TA events. Dan Gurney, Team Cougar captain, and Parnelli Jones were lead drivers, among other noted drivers. The team won 5 races that season and led the Manufacturers Championship point race into the last race at Kent, Washington only to have "bad luck" stymie both Gurney and Jones to lose the championship by 2 points to arch-rival Mustang, Carroll Shelby's team. This car is a replica of Gurney's #16 Cougar car (with modern updates) in Team Cougar livery with period correct decals, period correct 289 engine with dual 4-bbl induction, T-10 4-spd transmission, and posi-trac rear with over-riders. None of the original cars have survived, and only four Trans-Am Cougars in Bud Moore configuration are believed to exist, all replicas.

My plan when building this car was to vintage race and attended two Walter Mitty events with track time, but no competition. Life issues side-tracked this plan, and it has not been driven for months, although stored. This car is currently licensed and insured as a street car. It was invited to Bud's 90th birthday celebration when he signed it under the hood and includes other memorabilia with his autograph and interview. I have receipts for over $136k spent on the car and offer it for $80k

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: Auto Mechanics & why
« on: January 06, 2022, 09:20:46 AM »
Frank im not a auto mechanic for a trade, but work in a body shop, and have for 21 years. While i cant speak for everyone, i used to love what i did, not so much now. I still like it on days, but im i in love with it still no? Different things play a role in that. Having to deal with insurance company's that mandate what they will pay for sucks! Some people suck as well. Most people never look at a vehicle even when buying new. I mean really look at them, like color match to bumpers and the like, and gaps, but they sure do if its wrecked. Then is the well i got hit and my check engine light came on or my radio stopped working bla bla bla , ive heard it all. Then there is the way i stay, there is no one to replace me my age or younger, no ones is getting in to the business. I can even hire some one my age or younger to work in the shop. I guess its like anything if you do it long enough you get burnt out, but dealing with the public is also tough. Thanks Lance
