Jay, can you bore the holes in the plates from 3/8 out to half inch? that way you could just use a longer stud, and a regular nut to hold the plate and the head down simultaneously. Or else you could use just a regular 1/2" coupler nut to hold the head down, and then a short stud or bolt through the plate and into the upper half of the coupler nut.

After turning an eight dollar pizza to a
        carbon disc last night...

Try that with 2 boxes of Pizza Rolls. 1:30 AM preparing for a magnificent feast! You wake up when the smoke alarm goes off, look in the oven at your 2 dozen Kingsford charcoal briquettes, and you're still starving. So you try to cut one open to see if maybe... See Steve, I used to be a bachelor too.  (:

Where was that gorgeous exhaust system when I was you trunk monkey? Back then, the cockpit was the muffler, and the window was the tailpipe.  ;)

Thanks CattleFEeder, I appreciate your help. I left a message for the owner.   I would consider a 428 car, but would much prefer a 427 car, so I am changing my ad.

Unfortunately, I'm scratching Drag Week this year. I lost in the registration race, and ended up on the wait list. I have not as of yet made it off the wait list and into the rolls of the registered racers. I had a drop dead date in my mind, that if I wasn't registered by, I wasn't going to waste the time and money and make the commitment to be ready, and that date has passed.
I've done drag week in 07,08,09,11,13,14,15,16,17,&18, so it kind of hurts to contemplate missing it, Drag Week gets in your blood. But I am also enjoying this late summer season without the burden of the thrash to be ready.

Good luck to all who are going!

It was great to meet Leny and his bride Myrna. They offered great hospitality, and Leny took me around to see really cool stuff Like his blown, Cammer powered 64 Comet hardtop, and the good places to eat. I must have been good luck for Leny too, because he won a jackpot at the breakfast restaurant while I was there.
And the Maytag bones were more/better than I expected.

Thanks Leny!
