Anyone running them on a 390 67 Gal. How is fitment, looks like I will have to at least make a half in. dimple in no. 2 tube, it is contacting the pitman arm. Also, looks like they don't use the tabs and allen head bolt any more on the no. 3 tube, just resistance fit (maybe a dab of copper RTV).  Passenger side good. I called hooker and the gentlemen I spoke with was clueless. Thanks

FE Technical Forum / Is this block worth grabbing??
« on: September 11, 2014, 06:31:15 PM »
Hey guys,
It looks like this block has had some machine work done. It looks like their saying it was casted that way. Never heard of a cross bolted 428 SCJ, not much info on site. Is this something Holman Moody did after market, looks like typical ribbed service block. Your thoughts.  Thanks

I have chance to pick up a 391 truck block D4TE-1 cheap. Any differences from the 390 block? Will Barry R's 445 kit work with those blocks? I know the crank is different, anything else I should look out for? Thanks

FE Technical Forum / vac advance or no vac advance
« on: April 01, 2013, 09:58:44 PM »
Hey guys, still getting all the parts together to wake the rebuilt 390 in my Gal. I've been looking at the new Pertronix flame thrower dis. with the ignition III module. Doesn't need a ign box, easy to adjust mechanical advance and has a digital rev limiter, I need your thought getting it with or without vac advance. Mostly street with some strip time, Comp cam 282S, CJ heads, edelbrock streetmaster and 750 holley. With it being mostly a street car, I was thinking with vac advance. THANKS

FE Technical Forum / Erson shafts and stands
« on: March 14, 2013, 06:43:34 PM »
Hey guys,
I missed out on the comp roller rockers on ebay, but I just saw a set of  Erson shafts and stands on the other fe site. No rockers, just the shims with them. Are there specific erson rockers or will others work with them, like pops, comps, harlands etc?  Might be better off staying away from them since they don't make them any more? As for replacement parts.                        Thanks

FE Technical Forum / Are these any good? Jay,Ross anyone?
« on: March 11, 2013, 02:02:18 PM »
Hey guys,
Found these on ebay , with my tight budget I thought they may work for me. I don't have any experience with roller rockers, these don't use bushing or bearing and I don't see an oil groove cut in them, so I don't know if there is excessive wear on them. I thought I read a thread here that Jay or Ross run this type of rocker.     Thanks again!

FE Technical Forum / bushed or bearing rockers?
« on: March 06, 2013, 12:53:03 PM »
Bushed are usually suited for the street-strip and bearing racing applications. I have a chance to get a set that are bearing for cheap, he says they're comp cams. I'm not sure if he is the real deal. Any way, my car is more street-strip, so maybe I don't need bearing rockers.
