Here are some pics from the show. All Ford. :)

Spoiler alert! Harland Sharp has a new setup for the FE.

It uses a solid 3/4" shaft and solid stand setup. It oils the rockers through the adjusters.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Valvesprings, A Thing Of The Past?
« on: December 08, 2015, 10:47:24 PM »
Here are some videos I saw a couple years ago where a new system is being tested without using valvesprings.

I believe there was experimentation of pneumatic valves in the 70s or 80s.

FE Technical Forum / Billet Roller Timing Set
« on: September 11, 2015, 09:06:42 PM »
Anyone seen or used this billet double roller timing set? It has a bearing on both sides of the thrust plate, two dowel pin holes, and four large machined windows in the cam sprocket. Supposedly, the thrust plate is aluminum. It also has the nine keyway crank sprocket. It looks a little different from my Rollmaster set. I'm guessing it is made by Rollmaster since it is from Australia.

Member Projects / Holley Hydramat
« on: August 30, 2015, 09:48:12 PM »
While I am in the process of swapping out my old gas tank for a new replacement, I decided to go with Holley's new Hydramat. My old tank is slightly dented on the bottom, trapping a little fuel in the front corners away from the pickup. I have the RobbMc 1/2" sending unit with home made AN adaptation. When the fuel gets below a quarter tank, it starves and fuel pressure becomes erratic(w/electric fuel pump), and sometimes it even stalls. Well, if something is worth doing, it's worth over-doing, right? Enter the Holley Hydramat. I was just about literally drooling over this at PRI. I knew I had to have it. It is a fuel absorbant mat that easily wicks fuel from any part of the mat, no matter how low the fuel level is, it still pulls fuel through until the supply is depleted. It doesn't create any problems with fuel pressure until the supply is basically down to absolutely nothing. Here is a video of it. https://youtu.be/4rG97UuVgmQ
I just ordered the 15×15" X shape.

Has anyone else used this yet, or am I the guinea pig? I will post updates when it arrives and show installation.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Jerico Top Cover
« on: August 06, 2015, 04:59:11 PM »
Does anyone know if this top cover for the Jerico will interchange with a normal 4 speed toploader? Not sure what all, if anything is interchangeable between the transmissions, I've never dealt with a Jerico. Just thought this would be a nice piece to put on my trans when it gets rebuilt to look nice and possibly add a little more strength over the thin stamped factory unit.

Private Classifieds / Fairlane listing on Ebay- not mine
« on: August 02, 2015, 03:52:04 PM »
I am a little confused why the starting price and buy-it-now price are both $75,000. ??? Who would make a bid on it, that would be stupid. It does have some decent parts including the hard to find back up delete taillight lenses. I think the starting price is a little steep.

Private Classifieds / SOLD-Quick Fuel 850cfm Annular- Dyno Only
« on: July 30, 2015, 05:14:43 PM »
Up for sale is a like-new Quick Fuel 850cfm gas double pumper. Used once for a couple dyno pulls. Part# Q-850-AN. This is a non-blow through style carb for gas only. Comes in original box with spec card, new air cleaner and base gaskets,  and changeable secondary linkage. This is a street/strip style with notched float and jet extensions. Also included are fuel inlet fittings for inverted flare fuel line and inlet plugs for optional opposite side inlets. Note: metering blocks are drilled and tapped for emulsion bleeds, but there aren't any in this one. I asked quick fuel about it and on this particular one, it has a fixed orifice inside, so the bleeds are not necessary. Carb stand is not included. Price is $700.00 plus ride. Thank you.

FE Technical Forum / 427 SOHC experiment?
« on: July 30, 2015, 04:20:19 PM »
While were hashing on the SOHC right now, here's some more. I have heard conflicting stories about the location of the spark plugs while developing. They had the spark plugs moved to the bottom of the cylinder head in some testing. One story I read said they moved it for combustion, but it didn't make any difference, so they moved it up to the top for ease of maintenance. Another story says that they were experimenting with trying to stuff two intake valves in it and use a fork rocker to actuate them, thus relocating the plug. I wouldn't doubt they tried two intake valves like they actually did for the Calliope 427. Does anyone know the real reason for this?

I saw these mentioned in David Vizard's latest book on holley carbs in a short chapter on ignition. I was wondering if anyone has used them, if they were worth it (any type of gain), and durability/longevity? Their design is intriguing. He said when he tested them it increased power and lean burn capability but didn't claim just how much. I have also heard that some top racers and Winston Cup cars have tried to disguise them, so they must work? ??? Sorry for opening this can of worms, but really curious if this is another ignition product that is too good to be true.
