FE Technical Forum / distributer gear for Mallory
« on: December 31, 2020, 07:37:05 AM »
On my new 427 build I have a Mallory Unilight that has a bronze gear Its a very low mile unit I got from some one here a while ago. I need to put a cast gear on it for the factory cam. I checked Holley/Mallory website and found a 29420 gear, it lists it fitting several engines. I guess the question is are the ford gears the same between the engine familys? Summit shows the same gear but does not show it fitting the FE.

FE Technical Forum / Felpro intake gaskets
« on: December 01, 2020, 05:51:19 PM »
I was checking on felpros site and there info says that the 1247 & the 1246 gaskets are print o seals. I seem to remember that they were teflon coated but no silicon bead. Am I wrong? I have some that are definitly non silicon beaded and was going to get some more but don`t want the bead. When did they change? Also has anyone got an opinion on Mr Gasket 206g & 202a ? thanks GJCAT

I know there was a bigger rear brake size for the r-code but I can`t seem to find it in my refercnce books. What size did they offer as standard for the rear and what was the upgrade?

Member Projects / Thinking of a 410 build for 64 F350
« on: June 06, 2020, 09:01:24 AM »
I bought a 64 F350 last yr. Been updating it for a tow rig. The old 292 runs good but it lacks road speed with the 5.38 gears and 4 spd tranny. Going to change out the gears for a 3.50 set. I`m inclined to build a 410 I have, but debating about a cam. Now here`s what I`m pondering about, I have 2 FoMoCo cams. One is a 391 and the other is a 427 marine cam std rotation. Both look very good on the lobes. I`m going for torque when loaded, 60-65 mph loaded. Can`t find the specs on either cam. Any sugestions?  The car is my 64 galaxie and an open 18' car hauler as far as weight.

Okay I`m changing to a dual port master from a single port, question is what do you use as a juction block to split the lines? Or just run to the front direct from the master and the same to the rear? I`ve looked at a pressure differental blocks that lets you use a brake light warning unit if you loose the pressure in one or the other lines. But they all call for disc/drums. I`m staying with drum/drums. Scott Drake has one , but lists it as disc/drum. And I`m working on 1/4" lines and most are for 3/16" lines.

FE Technical Forum / New aluminum water pump
« on: May 10, 2020, 06:28:38 AM »
Does anyone know about the aluminum FE water pumps on Ebay  by CVF Racing? I have an Edelbroke On my 427 med riser and I had problems right from the start with water leakage from the back plate. Had to change the gasket and seal it as the casting was a little wonkey right out of the box. Looking for a new one for the new Tunnel Port going in my Galaxie.

FE Technical Forum / Carberation for a Tunnel Port
« on: April 21, 2020, 05:39:22 AM »
I`m finally getting the TP done for the 63 Galaxie. Want an opinion on carbs for this beast. My setup is as close to the original specs as possible. Options for carbs is as follows, single 4bbl, 2x4 or single 4 Dominator on custom built tunnel ram using Jay`s adapter. Camshaft is a "D". I`m leaning towards the 1050 Dominator, but am open to suggestions on the 2x4 setup. And Ya I`ve heard all the stories about the "D" cam, I just gotta try it for my self.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Tube headers for 63-64 Galaxie?
« on: June 25, 2019, 05:13:07 AM »
A while back some one posted a picture of a tube header next to a stock long cast header. They looked alike. Can some one repost that picture and who made(makes) them?

Member Projects / Any idea what a set of NOS shorty headers worth?
« on: June 06, 2019, 04:56:53 AM »
These are real factory headers I took them off a wall years ago at an old dealership so I know there real. A friend wants them for a 63 galaxie he`s putting together. He wants to trade for a c6oa-6394-d bellhousing even up but I`m not too sure I want to. I have no need for the bell right now.

Member Projects / any opinions on windage trays?
« on: May 25, 2019, 07:16:57 AM »
Like the header says. I`m debating about putting in an OEM tray in my new tunnel port motor. I`ll be running a deep sump pan and its going in my 63 Galaxie which should have been done for Beaver Springs, but sh@t  happens. I am running one in my 56 427 F100, but this new motor will not see a lot of street use due to the cam and comp ratio.
