I have a chance to pick up a “bare” uncut set of DOVE medium riser castings

These have valve guide bores cut and hardened seats installed but all else needs to be done

What is a fair price for these and are they a good casting or once they are complete am I just better off going with an off the shelf head?

This would be for a future build large bore large displacement

Thanks guys

Dave

Hey all

Another question that’s more for reference

How do tunnel port heads breathe?

Are they better than traditional style ports?

Hey all

When it comes to blocks I have a few questions

What are NOS side Oiler blocks going for?

What is the opinion on the bear block motors iron block?

It’s almost seems that for similar coin one could get the aftermarket block

I’m just curious as I’m always planning for future projects

Thanks in advance

FE Technical Forum / Similar builds

Hello all

I have been reading on this page for several years but finally decided to join!

I have a 1966 galaxie Convertible 428 with a wide ratio Toploader gear vendors overdrive, 3.89 rear with a 31 spline locker this car is really fun to drive

My question is as follows if a pair of engines were comparably built meaning same heads, cam, compression ratio and bolt on components would a 427 be much more powerful than a 428?

I realize one is a short stroke screamer and one is a long stroke torque monster

I’m just looking to gather info as I have a few locals that ask “why didn’t you build this”

More nonsense than anything but I want to sound intelligent when asked

Thanks for listening

Dave
