I observed a couple of interesting things in the video, one is the use of the dual inlet primary carb bowl in his fuel system plumbing.

I am aware of the original use on the 428CJ, and I believe some 390GT's, but does anyone know if this is a rule requirement in this stock class, or personal choice/preference?

There was other stuff too, that one just jumped out at me.

Interesting, (but I am not Facebook subscriber, and didn't pursue further research.)

I tend to agree that unless you really need stronger/lighter...
It would be far more interesting to me if it was about an FE application, strong and light enough, and...
Economical and readily available.

For the applications that composite part is likely marketed for, there is an abundance of options that work pretty well.

I have to admit, that is one of the coolest looking FE induction systems ever IMO!

To be clear, is the base adapter proprietary? Or is that some variant of the Cleveland adapter?

I totally dig it. Functionally it may never approach a reasonable "performance for the dollar threshold", but...

Visual impact score-12/10! Out of the park!

FE Technical Forum / Re: Valve to piston clearance question
« on: December 05, 2023, 07:08:26 PM »
If .125 was the exh. limit, I'd be in BIG trouble!
I've run the crap out of engines tighter than that many times with no issue.

I have checked a few where the piston relief radius was worthy of closer attention, but that is actually a fairly rare combination of parts in my experience.

That valve to cylinder wall thing though...
It may be uncommon, but when your "unusual" combination gets close...
You may excuse the flow/shrouding issues, but here's my current conundrum- You build a combination of parts for an "effort" and discover later you may be under-cammed to approach target values. And the engine is built "tightly around" a specific cam.
Mistakes have been made, people will be blamed.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Starter for 73 truck with headers
« on: December 02, 2023, 10:37:58 AM »
its hard to believe that its hard to get a starter on a truck with headers.a truck should have more room than my 66 comet.i can fish a factory starter up through my  hooker super comp header on my comet and get it on without messing with the header at all.and i still have the shock towers and  factory front suspension.

I had a '67 F100 that came with a 352, which I had upgraded to a 390. Used headers instead of the ridiculous cast manifolds. Hookers.
You couldn't get the starter out of that thing even with the headers loosened and pushed aside. And that massive crossmember at the collector location... Don't get me started!
I soldthe truck before giving in to the temptation of taking a plasma cutter to the thing.

Would have been interesting if Ford had stuck more closely to the plan outlined in that memo.

Hi Dan.
I am very familiar with the described vehicle and have previously removed/restored to original MANY "crappy" aftermarket alarm installations.

Typically, the two key areas are to disconnect power to the aftermarket module (Usually stuffed up under the drivers side dash somewhere) and to locate the start bypass relay, and restore the circuit they have cut into. Usually that part requires one critical splice.
From there, the rest is careful removal of the remaining spaghetti nest of crap spliced into the original harness. Some are installed far better than others. The best are usually unacceptably bad.

I'd offer to do it, and am "only" about an hour north of her- but...
A: Thats a driving route I avoid unless absolutely necessary, and-
B: I am severely backlogged at all times and really don't take on "side jobs" at this point. (In my mind I am semi-retired. In reality I am swamped, old and tired.)
IOW, I don't 'need' any more work.

If need outweighs all of the above, contact me off board and I will provide contact info and make this happen.
(And yeah, I am assuredly reasonable, honest and don't gaffe my clients.)

FE Technical Forum / Re: Steve Morris Engines Cammer build.
« on: November 16, 2023, 09:31:00 AM »
There may be a relationship, but Dan was working on a billet block N/A build, and the Steve Morris build is a cast block and was destined to be supercharged.

I am no SOHC expert, but it appears to me that the cams in Steves build are incorrect, and I suspect his solution is going to be problematic.

BTW, Steve is one of the only guys I "follow" and I look forward to his YouTube releases. He is open and informative, and a really good guy. I have met and talked with him a number of times and he never speaks badly of others and importantly (to me) isn't prone to keeping secrets.

The FE Power brain trust wasn't around for the engineers to ask.
Well most of them anyway...

I have experience with the common race car switches, but for this, I would look into the switching battery terminals that I have seen marketed to marine/boat enthusiasts.
But you have to watch the prices, I have seen the same exact switch range from economical to extortion range.

The stock Toyota configuration uses a flat tab that bolts to a terminal that should easily adapt to something like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/314662819876?

Haven't tried it, but it looks promising.

Alternatively, you might consider simply wiring in a battery tender type device and keeping it plugged in when sitting for extended periods.

That I do have experience with...

Strangely, it also appears to have canted valves. On some cylinders.
