Buy American, most offshore parts are cheaper for a reason! Inferior at best.

, I have put countless timing tapes on my 390, well maybe 3, lol,  they'll stay on till approx 3500- 4000 rpm than they pull loose and the timing pointer destroys them, I've carefully installed them removing All the paint and cleaning the bare metal with lacquer cleaner, I've contacted jeggs and they have replaced them no charge, I'm to try 1 more and I'm going to take Chris advice and spray a coat of clear paint over it.

I hear ya Jay! Imagine walking up to a good looking 64 Galaxie only to find a small block Chevrolet 350....  of all things....sitting under the hood!

When I list on eBay at the end of the  item description, I add that domestic and Canada shipping only,no international shipping,I refuse to deal with the hassle of customs and all the other bs.

Thanks for replying, I forgot to mention that the exhaust crossover has been blocked off. I'm thinking that the open spacer has the most favorable reviews but still undecided.

« on: November 26, 2014, 09:00:16 AM »
Hi, I'm having some heat soak issues and I'm wanting to install a phenolic carb spacer under my carburator ,but not sure which one would work best on my car, 4 hole or open.I have a 390 with a Luniti VD-FE-284 cam, Holley 750 carb  with vacuum secondarys on  a streetmaster intake,headers,D2t heads,4speed,with 350 gears in a 64 Galaxie, any advice would be appreciated.thank you

Hi, follow fe owners, newbie here, but not new fe owner, probably like a lot of members here I grew up driving fe powered cars back in the 60s, 390s and 427s ...back than I had no idea what a 427s history would become,or evolve into. I bought my 427 from a friend's older brother from a 67 fairlane, it was a storker, with 428 crank and rods. Had Jans domed pistons, single 4 barrel carb with a aluminum intake,I later traded that single 4 barrel setup for a 6 pack, man that really woke that 427 up.I could go on and on but as you can tell that ole Galaxie made a big impression on me, of all the cars that I've owned that's the one that I'll never forget, even at the age of 62, I can remember it like it was yesterday.thanks for reading my newbie post, Jackie

FE s were made for these ole classics,385s and Windsor's make good hp,and usually cheaper to build, but I wouldn't put nothing but a FE under the hood of my Galaxie.you'll get plenty of expert support from this and the network 54 forum.

Go figure, it's rewarding when you finally find the problem, and it's usually something simple,(plugs?) Probably the last thing I would have thought to check.
