Title: Videos of one after it's in the car - Danny T's all-iron 461 CJ
Post by: My427stang on February 23, 2021, 03:35:49 PM
This one was in the dyno section a long time ago, 525 HP range, 15+ inches of vacuum, pump gas, all iron, including the intake.  Painted and detailed to look like a CJ fresh off the assembly line in 1968. Only non-stock look are headers and a double pumper for a Day 2 appearance, but even then, the carb is hidden under an original ram air air cleaner.

The car is a beauty, and Danny is finishing the resto and got it fired.  This one ran really well and did everything we wanted, but the sound really is the icing on the cake.  Just right for a what a Day 2 CJ would sound like, but at 150 more HP than most saw in the day!

Enjoy!

Well done!
Looks as good as it sounds.

Can't wait for an in-car video - melting the tires.

Looks great, will it see any dragstrip action at all? Could surprise some newer muscle cars, if it can find any traction.

It certainly is not its  primary use but I think you’ll probably see it at the FE Reunion. It’s got Caltrac bars and their mono leaf rear springs out back, should do ok compared to my tire burner lol

I used a single pattern custom hyd roller, 237 @ .050, 114 LSA Intake flowed over 300 and exhaust was very good with a properly sized primary pipe . Typically a little split on the exhaust side works better but in this case we were very fussy about making vacuum, so we tried to make the exhaust and head work well
