Title: Released from Paintshopjail
Post by: Heo on January 15, 2021, 10:28:47 AM
Finally the frontfenders and splashaprons for the Packard is released from Paint shopjail.
So i adjusted them with my father over  the last days. It is a big car look how
it dwarfs the Mercedes in the background and my father is about 6FT
A Finnish guy is making the upholstery but due to Corona he cant travel to Sweden

Lovely car!  I love Packards  :)

Your picture is interesting because my father was involved with Studebaker-Packard and Mercedes in the 1950's.  Studebaker-Packard was the importer of Mercedes cars into the U.S.  My dad set up the central parts warehouse for Mercedes.  He was offered a 300SL at cost, but "didn't like it because it needed unleaded gas, and Hugh Hefner drove one".

He got a 190 sedan instead.  Thanks for being so practical, Dad!

Wow a 190 ;D Be glad he dont chosed a 180 Diesel ;)
A 300SL is one of my dreamcars and i have realiced it
will just be a dream seems like the price doubles once
a week
Everything on that Packard is built like it is to last forever
and most of them was scraped after 10 years. Chassie from
this is from a limousin that the American embassy had.
We found a Roadster body in Finland (6 sold in scandinavia
total,we got parts from atleast two of them) or what was left
of a body.  So i built a new body, all sheetmetal is new
except frontfenders and firewall.

The hood sides and rear fender is still hostage but after that

Mother inlaw seat? So it came with a pull behind trailer?  ;D

Beautiful work, Heo. What year is it, 1932? Between us, I think we could start a museum.

Yes the pullbehind version. Here it is how i found it
M.I.L wanted to ride right away...well after me throwing
in some rotten vegetables ;D ;D
(https://i.postimg.cc/VLWH3Pmb/Gertieand-Trailer.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)

It is a 1929 6th series 133 inch wheelbase so 633 is the model. There where 126-133-140-145 inch
wheelbases the two longer had a bigger engine

Yes i think we could scrape together a pretty good museum

Yeah we don't want Jay's Forum to be put on a blacklist  :o  It will be the first Google result for a "Men in tight stockings" search...

Very nice bodywork.
Love those old Packards.
A lot of people don't know that Rolls Royce licensed the Packard front suspension in the 30's and used it into the 50's.
Thats how they got their smooth ride.
That takes some time but looks like it was done right.

Agree with all, it's definitely gorgeous!  Love the color combo too.  What colors are you planning for the top and interior?  A guy near me is a big Stutz collector so I've seen how big cars of that era can be.

The color combo is actualy from a 7th series Boat tail speedster, concept/Showcar
The first known metallic paint. That one had a bright red chassie but dad thought
that was to much. But you could order your Packard whith your choice of chassi colour
The interior will be leather in the same colour as the fenders and the top will be
Canvas in the same colour plus the sparewheel covers and there will be a red
pinstripe on the bead  or what it is called along the body

Today we got the parts of the hood  the painter was not satisfied with
last time. So now we can put the hood together and adjust the radiator/grillshell
This afternoon i made new wires inside the headlights. tailights up next
After that its just the rear fenders to mount after we get them painted
get someone to make a top and the corona to end so the Finish guy can
mount the rest of the upholstry
