Talk about a sleeper, never knew they made comets in 1976.

Yup, friend had one years ago.  It was that "pea green" color.  He called it the "Slimer".   Pretty sure it was basically stock with Holley 2bbl on it.  He bracket raced it for years.  It was relatively quick on the street for what it looked like and back in the 90's would make most stock Mustangs/camaros wonder what happened.

Cool car, but that "acceleration video" is pathetic. My old stock '73 302 Maverick would have smoked the tires doing that. There's something wrong with that engine, if that's the best it can do.

I had a '76 Comet with a 250. It was about as pathetic as that video, but damn dependable. Still have what's left of it out in the woods. The '73 Maverick would embarrass stock Mustangs and Camaros, like Larry said. After putting a very mild cam and 4bbl on it, ditching the smog crap and a good tune, it was quick enough (and squirrely enough) that you had to be careful in 1st and 2nd gear. That was a really fun car to drive.

I agree Doug, they would probably find it's faster if they take that blower off of there and get rid of all the tuning issues.

I think it's a super cool car though. Love the style.

Why would anyone put a '93 Cobra crankshaft in a '71 block?  One piece rear main seal, balance 54oz, etc., etc..  Going the wrong way on that parts build in several ways.  Joe-JDC

What made me curious was the 6 digit DSO.  Wonder what special order this was?  Blank color code as well.

Joe....people do stupid things with out thinking...I just pulled the engine out of a 68 Mustang. Some one put the complete 5spd,bellhousing and flywheel off a 5.0 in it..The 289 is 28oz balance and the 5.0 is 50oz....They even put a 50oz balancer on it...I doubt i need to say anymore...

Because it sounds "fast" having a "Cobra crankshaft".  Ohhhh!!  Imagine the looks at the cruise in when you tell Ricky racer you have THAT in your motor?   SMDH.   ::)

Boy that sure would make a good track car, after several mods.

I like it!  It seems like it might be nice to buy, without the engine.  A 351W in there, with good heads, would be a great ride.
