Title: 406 Block Questions
Post by: C8OX-FE on October 19, 2020, 01:21:05 PM
Hey guys,

I have a 406 block that has been bored to 4.23, I'm assuming it will need 8 sleeves. I'm trying figure out what it's worth. Any help would be appreciated!

406 blocks are super thick. I have run them successfully at 4.23 bore, as have others. Even though it’s pushing the limits. I wouldn’t be afraid to run as is with no sleeves. However..... to answer your question about worth, I’d say $700 as is.

What is the date on it? As mentioned, many were cast thick. If it still sonics well it could be worth double that or more to someone who is after a certain date for their full size Gal or Marauder.

I ran a 406 bored to 4.23 years ago on the street. Never had any problems with it.

So is the thick walls common to all 406's or just certain casting numbers?I'd heard that some late blocks were cast thick but didn't know if it applied to all of them.
