Title: Head gasket for blower motor?
Post by: plovett on September 30, 2020, 10:40:39 AM
Hey Jay, or anybody,  what type of head gaskets do you use on your blower motors?  Jay, I mentioned you specifically because you have the centrifugally blown FE.

What would you use on an iron factory block with aluminum heads?  Low boost like 8-10 pounds.  Centrifugal blower.

Thanks,

paulie

Use a Cometic MLS (Multi Layer Steel) gasket, Paulie, they can handle the heat and cylinder pressure of a blown motor - Jay

Most certainly Cometic.

I also like putting Inconel exhaust valves in as an added defense.

Cometics even on my lil 390 with 5# of boost.  Granted it doesn't see racing pressures, but after 20 yrs I haven't touched it.

Cometics are great , but I use Felpro 1020's less prep less cost and I've run 12lbs of boost , never lost a gasket
