Title: Wiring option for MSD Digital-6 for Holley Sniper
Post by: fairlaniac on August 09, 2020, 11:55:19 AM
As mentioned before, wiring or electronics is not my strong suit. The instructions are complicated for me. Here is the Holley manual. https://documents.holley.com/199r11971.pdf (https://documents.holley.com/199r11971.pdf)

I'm not sure which wiring to use for my MSD Digital 6 box? I'm not sure what to do with the purple and green two wire harness off of the main Sniper harness and whet to do with the yellow coil wire and I have a single, loose purple wire with a connector on one end. I'm also trying to understand how this all works with the ignition and the Sniper.

Right now I'd like to get this hooked up and running. I see an option to let the Sniper control timing. Any issue if I don't do that yet until I better understand the system and tackle that later if I choose to do so?

Thanks,

Did you watch the video on how to hook up the 6al CD box? The link is right in the instructions.

You should get the fuel curve right before you let the Sniper handle the dist.
You will have to lock out your stock dist. or buy one of theirs.
As to the wiring you can do what I did, just read and reread the instructions until you understand them and just do one wire at a time. Not really that hard. You can do it.

What do you have for components bedsides the MDS box? Seems mostly plug & play depending what you need to use for the crank signal, msd box.

Here is what I have hooked up right now. MSD Digital 6 Plus ignition box, MSD Pro Billet 8594, Sniper 4150 EFI, MSD Blaster 2 coil and tach.
This is how I am wired at the moment.

I think this is the wiring diagram I need to hook my EFI up with my distributor and coil?

Correct me if I am wrong as I am trying to figure this out on my own.

- I have a wire from the tach output to my tach right now. Do I pull this and hook it to the brown wire (Tach Output) on the Sniper harness?
- Do I take the single purple wire with connector, hook to my distributor (purple & green) harness? Other of purple wire goes to tach out put on CD box where I just pulled the tach wire above? (where I have "Tach" written on the diagram above
- I do not use the yellow wire on the Sniper harness shown in the diagram above?
EDIT: It looks like I keep the wiring between the ignition box and my distributor as I have it connected? I take the single purple wire and plug it into the Sniper harnesss and the other end to my tach output on the ignition box?
- The purple & green wired connector off the CD box is now no longer used?

Thanks for all of your help.

I did watch it a few times but I'm not getting everything he says. I can comprehend diagrams and pictures. He picks the purple wire up but I wish he'd detail where each end goes. Sorry if I'm not getting what he's saying.

EDIT: Ok, so I watched it again. It looks like I keep the purple and green wires from the ignition box to the distributor. I take the single purple wire hook it to the purple & green wire connector on the Sniper harness and the other end goes into the tach output?
