Ok so Jegs advertises Speedmaster 4.375 forged cranks, drop shipped starting 8-14-20. Has anyone heard if they’re any good, and really available?
-
I know of literally zero Speedmaster products that I would trust, especially ones that have to rotate at thousands of revolutions per minute while trying to handle massive forces acting upon it.
-
+1 on what Brent said on Speedmaster quality (or lack thereof). Also, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if that date came and went Summit's site, and a couple days after that date it was pushed out by another month. That same thing happened with my PAC valve springs that I tried to order through Summit. Pushed out a month four times before I finally cancelled the Summit order and got them from a different distributor.

+1 ;)
I wish the American public would stop with this determination, or maybe it's a syndrome, to purchase the CHEAPEST-SHYT-POSSIBLE! :o

Anyway we can do a group order for 4.375 cranks through Callies or another quality American manufacturer?
-
4.250 it is! Thanks fellas.

I can do quantity order of custom Scat forged cranks in a 4.375" stroke, 2.200" rod journal. Would probably take a quantity of 5-10 to get the price "do-able" and even then they'd be somewhere around the $1800-1900 range.
-
I have too many projects like normal. Ok 428 block Edelbrock heads basically out of the box. It’s going into a 4x4 pickup. I have a mental block about cast cranks. What kind of limits does a 4.250 crank have, rpm/h.p. Let’s assume Molnar rod, diamond piston. Flat tappet cam.

You'd have no problem with a cast Scat crank in that application, plus a couple hundred horsepower.

You can put me down for two.

And you can put me down for 1.
I am curious, as these are custom forging, would they all have to be the same, or could we ask for variances.
For instance, a 2.1 rod journal and longer stroke? I asked about this I. Another thread, still not sure it’s worth messing with but figured I would ask anyway.
I am assuming that these are all cut on CNC machines so what would it matter to change it up a bit..
-
Probably so. If I can get a couple more guys interested, I'll see what my Scat rep says.
-
That would be awesome. Thanks Brent.

Great, Thank you.

Anyone else interested?

Heard back from my Scat rep. I'd need 5 guys and the cranks would be $1895 each. They're pretty lenient on the dimensions, so I think we could mix some 4.375" strokes in with some other dimensions.
-
Put my name in the hat for one forged crank please. :D
-
I feel kinda dirty about talking about orders and money in the main forum, so I'm gonna make a post in the vendor's subsection. Anyone interested can meet me there.
-
Bumping this thread. Please do check out Brent's post in the vendor section and consider picking up a SCAT 4.375 crank.
If the OP can change from 4.25 to 4.375 then we may only need one more person to make it happen.
Brent - can you clarify the details of the Group Buy? Like E4340, billet/forged, nitrided etc.... Thank you.
-
BBC rod journal, any stroke from 3.780" to 4.375" (including both of those). They are 4340 forged and would be nitrided. Gun drilled, scalloped flywheel flange, etc.
