Title: Need a source for Adel/cushion clamps for 3/8 fuel line
Post by: My427stang on August 01, 2020, 06:26:50 PM
Anyone know of a 3/8 Adel or cushion clamp for a 3/8 line that takes a 5/16 bolt or 3/8 bolt?

I know they exist because I have TWO, but need at least 6.  I have searched far and wide and they all seem to have 1/4 inch fastener holes.  Crazy because I have two in hand, so unless a unicorn popped them...I am lost on where I got them!

Thanks in advance

It's been quite a few years, but you may want to check out the parts department at a local heavy truck dealer. I can't speak to the specifics of fastener sizes, but these type of clamps were on hand for the guys in the service department (and for sale over the counter), there were many sizes. I was outside parts sales for a Kenworth dealer many, many moons ago. Heavy truck parts dept. had many intersting misc. fasteners, supplies, hoses, etc.

Try Del-City Wire. I've found, in stock there in the not too distant past, what you are seeking and without an outrageous minimum order.

Thanks guys...

Get some calipers and go to mcmaster carr.

I don't need calipers, I can do 5 divided by 16 on my toes :)

Hi Ross, I can't be specific with a part number but I agree with the heavy truck suggestion, I've seen them on IH & Western Star. No idea how you would convince a parts person to research it and locate what you need, but I used to strip them off and save them when I would shorten a frame or do a glider kit and I used to have a box full of all sorts of sizes.
Is this for the NiCopp you were trying to straighten? What technique did you use to get it straight enough? Just curious...

Yes it is for the NiCopp.  In the end, it was pretty easy to get close by hand.  I tried the hole in a 4x4 method, but found if I took it slow I could get it very very close, then once I get all the clamps, tweak it by hand.

Although, I ran two short pieces on the frame, 30-36 inches, and I rolled those on the garage floor like you would making dough into long bread sticks, and it straightened out quickly.

I am not sure I like NiCopp though, it was almost too soft for me.  However, on a good note,  it did allow some forgiveness to bend back if you screwed up, more than aluminum, and it flared like soft butter LOL

Here is a link to a Phillips brand clamp that looks like it might work for you.

Thank you!  I found another one COL-0611SS, but nobody stocks them.  I'll give these guys a shot

Nice find!

You might want to try your local Fastenal.

Am I missing something here? I can buy these all day long in small packages at my local Napa. In fact, at home, I've got a whole divider tray full of them, in all sizes from 1\4" to 1". I use them for everything from electrical lines to fluid lines. Are they only sold in Ohio?  ???

I have a million cushion clamps but only 2 with the bigger mounting hole. Haven’t had any luck finding the 5/16 or 3/8 mounting hole.

I agree completely though they should be available because I have to and I got them somewhere!

You mean you don't just put a fresh grind on your bestest 5/16" drill bit and drill them out?  Takes a soft touch to drill those soft buggers out without the drill catching the thin metal and twisting and ripping them all to heck....I finally got smart and use a carbide to waller them out if needed.

If it was easy here, I wouldn't have posted.  I am set though, got some from the truck supply company, but all of the hardware and Fastenal ones were 1/4 inch mounting holes.  To be honest, didn't try any electrical supply houses, but Summit doesn't sell them.  Even called, all 1/4 inch mounting

Thanks, you guys saved the day, mission complete
