Title: Asking For Help Identifying My 1965 F-250 Pickup Mirrors
Post by: chris401 on June 04, 2019, 11:10:51 AM
At different times two older mechanics have identified my truck as a former Uhaul fleet truck. It may or may not have had other mirrors on it but these rough markings infront of both vent windows are very similar. Can anyone identify my current mirrors?
Thanks,

I'm not sure of your current mirrors, but those rubber grommets close off the hole of the OEM mirror that just had a base sticking up through the door skin.

Agree.  That factory plug was installed because they knew the truck was going to be upfitted with a body.  The mirrors look to be some kind of aftermarket?  They would have Fomoco in the mirror head if there were factory installed.

My '69 F100 has Jr. West coast mirrors and they have the Fomoco in them.

Not 100% sure, but I think the mirrors on the truck are old Velac brand jr west coast.

Thanks, that helps narrow it down. Lots of them look the same but those minor differences between brands set them apart.

The wrinkled places between the vent window and the rubber plug are very similar on both sides. I have seen what stout mirrors can do to these doors when hung on a tree or building. Thought maybe there could have been a different design on mine at one time.

My 73 had a crinkle on the passenger door from just such an incident. Given where I drug it out of I suspect the PO caught the mirror on a fence post. On mine you have to look close because the back of the door still lines up perfectly, but the front angled part of the door (where the vent window is) got pushed forward as the mirror bent the skin in. I keep meaning to pull it out, but it's not hideously obvious and nothing rubs and the window works fine....so.........
