Title: Galaxie long branch header identification
Post by: 6667fan on October 27, 2018, 11:36:51 AM
I have a set of the 63-64 manifolds. How do I tell if they are reproduction parts?
Thanks, JB

I've never seen 63-4 reproductions. someone did reproduce 65 ones for a while. Are they that nice? Hard to find original ones that aren't pitted or welded somewhere or even a matched set for that matter.

I assumed there were re-pops made. If not then these are NOS pieces. I’ll wait for more responses,(hopefully).
Thanks

I've got a set that are like new, maybe you can see if there are differences.
I'll take some measurements and more detailed pictures.

I don't think anyone has ever repopped them.

I, too, have never heard of repros. Shorties have been reproduced, and the later Gal versions, but not the '63-'64, so far as I am aware.

Here are some detailed pictures I sent. Jay's book said they weighted 65# but my set came in at 56# (bathroom scale)
The pair I have are a C2 and a C3 so the lettering is much different between the drivers side and passengers. Also how to decipher the date? 10 8 3

The two that are rusty are pictures from the Web that I downloaded because they have a much different casting shape. Were these really early? The cylindrical shape on the passengers side and the larger window on both sides.
