any of you 3 peddle guys have seen, used, or heard any opinions on this gear box ?

I had to go to their website to see what it was. Never saw one before, must be something pretty new for them?
My guess is it replicates the Nash style case with their own revisions. Wonder what the price tag is on it?

Good luck trying to find any information on them. While Jerico builds a great transmission in the DR4 or DR4-4, finding almost ANY information on them is next to impossible. They have a horrible website that severely lacks in any detailed info, in my opinion. When you're spending that much on a trans, they should be able to provide a little more detail ???

I've only "heard" of them... goes something like this. A well known SS racer and his father both ran these "SC4" transmissions. To say they were problematic would be an understatement. They each had one spare in the trailer, one back at Jerico being rebuilt, and one in their cars, that is 6 transmissions total $$$$$. Some race weekends they would hold together and some weekends they had to swap in the spare, then rotate with the one at Jerico, rinse and repeat. Basically buy a Liberty Equalizer and be done with it, a 5 speed is better/quicker than a 4 speed, unless you are running Super Stock (only 4 speeds are legal, Liberty's are now legal... clutchless).

I should say that this was "second hand" info, and not directly from the racers, so take it with a grain of salt. I also think those transmissions were not a true "clutchless", as those were not legal at the time in SS (now are), but they were shifting without the clutch, so that can lead to breakage if the clutch tune isn't spot on.

I believe so, might have been WJ? but they also made 4 speeds for SS, and/or made the 5 speed into a 4 speed to be legal. They were probably available as clutch assist or clutchless, maybe...

Basically a revamped Doug Nash. Just like G force and Liberty use. They have done plenty to make them better, stronger, faster...........(hmmm, sounds familiar?)..........but same design.

The Jerico version is only about 6 or 8 years old. I had a chance to pick up one from a 10.5 racer about 3 years ago. He had the 5 speed clutchless version and said he loved it until he totalled his car. Cant find much out there about many being used and since Jerico has made so many changes in there busness any kinda tech support or information is scarce. No better than the tech guys at summit and well we all know how that goes.

We all know how much that cost. Not quite 6 million dollars, but these manuals sure aren't cheap! Having a backup for my toploader seems like a pittance compared to having a backup for a Jerico or similar. Just the initial cost was enough to put a lump in my throat, then you've got the clutch...

While some of the drag race manual transmissions are pretty costly, when you look at the big picture, a used Jerico for $2000- 2500 is a pretty good investment, in my opinion. A new Dave Kee Toploader is $2300., and it is not uncommon for racing automatics to cost North of 4 grand (less convertor and shifter), even more if you want an aftermarket case & billet internals. I understand that a Pro Trans C6 is over $4000, which retains the stock C6 case, but has all MoPar 904 internals. Plus with a Jerico or G Force 4 or 5 speed, you can usually run one for years, and providing its all good, you can get most, if not all your money back when you sell. And the McLeod Soft Lok and similar clutches can be sent back for rebuilds over and over as needed. The Soft Lok in my Fairmont is on its 3rd year, still working great.

I've used that argument for years Rory. The only problem is the learning curve of running one. Most racers just want to hop in and run, thus an automatic is their only hope. Let go of the button and then sight see while going down the track. All these "badasses" running today(younger crowd that are pretty good--I'll give them that) would be left in a shivering lump of cold sweat if they had to do what we do. Just my opinion, others may very.

I ran crash boxes top loaders for a good 10 or 12 years. Spent a few years in a fog and ran a fully built C6 low gear, low drag exstra clutch set up. It was decent and pretty much bullet proof but I hated it. Went to the jerico CL 4 back in 2002. Its a great tranny and been good to me. They have no parts for this gear box any longer and no plans on making any.
