last year I cooked my engine so I pulled it out and took to my neighbours machine shop. The 352 checked good so got it bored to 390 bore and stuffed in 390 crank, rods and new pistons.. Got the engine balanced and blueprinted, my heads checked over (6 bent valves) put my solid cam back in. Picked it up last weekend, painted and assembled. and stuck it in the car.. Went for a few test drives so far and the efi is learning good after I had to reset everything being a totally different animal.. All I can say now is it is so fun to drive and pretty scarey compared to the last engine that was in (but it was a totally stock 1960 352 that I stuck on bigger heads and a solid cam not really meant for a 352 :)

No smoking! Sounds much better at idle also. I'll bet it's a night and day difference in how it runs! Better make sure you've got a real seat in it this time ;)
-
it is unreal to drive this time around.. I have proper seats and 5 point harness if needed lol
-
Whats in it for a cam?

That is only based on post counts. Lots of guys that have been on the old forum for years, and some that have been on this one for quite a while but don't post a lot, are still "newbie"s. Obviously doesn't mean much as far as how long they've been around.
-
I actually left this site for awhile.
-
ooolllllll

Awesome.... Been watching this build for some time and was wondering where it went! Looks great!
-
it idles awesome at 800, cruizes nicely at 2100rpm (80km/h) gets 200* and stays there, and doesn't smoke.. Think it still is learning so wont have any input on any data but when I get a friend to cruise with me I will get them to make notes on air/fuel stuff and report back.. Big car show this weekend up the road, and a few mini ones Wednesday night and Friday night 20 miles away, so I will report back this weekend on how it goes with some pictures and feedback

entered a car show this weekend,, car did pretty good

It's sounding much better! It's neat to see you making some real progress on it. Looks like you're pretty close to having a reliable cruiser that you can finally enjoy. Cool!

Ive been driving the Falcon for a month now, have had some tweaking to do with minor stuff here and there, (axle bearings, rad leaking, injector oring leaks, etc.) but overall I love driving this thing.. Hop in and go, idles perfectly, stays at 203F even driving in 100F weather, and stop and go traffic, had never left me stranded and always fires right up even after driving for a few hours. The fuel injection is always learning and always reliable so far, no bogs or hesitation even driving at 60mph and put my foot in it. I may need to change either my transmission or rear end gears for something abit friendlier. Highway speed with the toploader and 3.70 gears is 3600rpm and really don't want to be cruising that long on the highway yet. I put about 600 miles on the car so far I just love driving it every chance I get. Only thing left to do now is bodywork and paint I guess and finish the interior.
-
Have you ever weighed that car?
My guess would be that it is light enough to go 3.25 and still run strong with a wide ratio toploader
-
I haven't weighed it yet,, I planned on going too this afternoon
-
I like it . nice job on the build . got me thinking about fi .

I got the car weighed last week.. it weighs 3380 pounds, alot heavier then I thought it would be.. But I did build it solid and to last.and used mostly 14 gauge for the tubs, floor and firewall,. has a full frame
-
almost time to put the car away for the year. I had such a blast driving it all over this summer.
-
last drive of the year
-
had to redo the rear housing, it bent and I broke an axle. Cut the back brace off and not going back on. Put big bearing ends on it too. Installed it on the weekend and got the e-brake cable hooked up tonight. Just need to make new lower bag mounts and hoping no snow this weekend to go for a little drive :)
last picture was from last fall
-
got the rear back together and went for a few drives in it. still real chilly here but got out when the road was dry. this cruise it was -16c and with no heater I didn't go to long but was great to take it out again after a long winter.. Soon it will be driving season again :)

Sounds really good. Mufflers?
-
Engine sounds real good there, and cruises along nicely. Sounds like you've got a lot of the tuning bugs out of it and the car is getting to be pretty reliable for you. That's awesome. Do they use salt on the roads there? I couldn't bring myself to drive it in salt, if they did.

it was -16c that day, the car loves the cold air. they do use salt on the roads here.

Sounds great and glad to see your adventures now that the engine is treating you well
Now that the car is settled in and doing well, you might find some power with a traditional style exhaust. The sidepipes sound and look cool the way you did them, but a clean 3 inch exhaust with an X or big H and a set of modern mufflers can free up mid range on a street stroker. You may not need as much with a stock stroke engine but sidepipe cores often steal significant power.
Always easy to spend someone's money, :) but I really liked the Borla ProXS on my Mustang and recently the Jones Full Boar on the truck. Quiet-ish poking around down and a real nice bark when you hit it. I did an H on the Mustang and an X on the truck based on how things fit. Hard to do on the unibodies compared to the truck, but a big smooth exhaust with mufflers as far back as you can helps too.
-
I have been thinking of different exhaust,, but it would hand down real low if I put in an h or x pipe cuz of the frame I built and where the headers exit. no room for an x or h pipe. I might try gutting the sidepipes and putting in baffles later on to see how that does
-
few pictures from last year.. I am removing the flame decals for this year.
-
tight fit in there. not sure how a SOHC will fit if I ever can afford one lol
-
decided to change color for abit.. give me motivation to do bodywork

The oposite side of the color spectrum :D

Love the hood scoop. Is that custom? It looks a lot like the fiberglass one I have from Cervini. Looks great!!!!
-
I was looking at your pictures and wondering if the air cleaner restricks the air flow? It looks to be sucking down some or is that from mounting?
