Porsche just released specs on their upcoming 911 GT2 RS. It will have 700 HP. More and more cars are floating around low 2 second 0-60 times.

For the price of one of those cars, you could build just about any late model Ford Mustang, or mid-sixties medium size Ford that would get to 60 that quickly. Joe-JDC

I suspect that if zero to say 120 was your only criteria you could do it for half or less.

I drove a regular S 2wd, without the ludicrous mode, & it was impressive. Changed my whole outlook on electric cars. If money was no object, I may own one of these. I was that impressed.

I don't think so. All wheel drive, motors make infinite torque at zero RPM. Our Hybrid with not even that much in it will jerk the wheel out of your hand with torque steer if you hammer it.

I don't care if it goes 0-60 in zero flat, it's still electric motor driven. About as exciting as watching 2 horseflies mate :P

I agree that electrics are boring, but the shear torque, speed and technology is astounding, let alone beating some of the fastest super fars ever built, at a much lower price. Being a 427 Cobra owner (replica), team Shelby built a electronic Cobra thst was very quick. I'd sure like to test drive either car !
Quotes-
"Kadie says that he can guarantee ten converted Shelby 427s for sale next year. While these are expensive - between $125,000 and $130,000 - seven were already spoken for when we talked at the beginning of December. The first one will be ready by Earth Day, the last by Christmas 2008. The cars will have a 110-mile range, which, luckily, is the same as the gas-only range of the original 427"

Any car will only accelerate as fast as the traction will allow. Electric motor cars have built in traction control. The super expensive exotics can only accelerate that fast because of very expensive traction control and very effective suspension but look at some of the modern drag cars that are going 1/8 mi on under 4 seconds at well over 200 mph. THAT is acceleration. ;)
