Fun today! I like it when a plan comes together! We dynoed a 520 inch streetable FE that surprised me a little. A fine member of both here and the net54 FE site is the proud owner of this mill. I'm sure he will post some on this at a later date.
520 cubes
BBM block
RPM crank
Crower forged rods
CP Pistons
Total Seal rings
T&D race rockers
BP ported CAST Edelbrock Victor
1250 Quick Fuel Dominator
BP ported Edelbrock Pro Port heads
Crower bushed rollers
BP "drag week" cam
Peak power 824 @ 6500 rpm
Peak torque. 745 @ 4900 rpm
I don't have the sheets.....they went with the new owner, who came to the dyno and tuned the variety of Dominators himself . Not everyone can jump right in and get involved as he did. Hats off to him for his abilities! A good day of testing with good folks. I thought it was worth posting.
-
Very impressive how about a little more info cam specs, compression, what's it going in
-
Somebody's truck is gonna need a roll cage!! 8)... Blair I will call you tomorrow. I think The Dyno sheets I got are the uncorrected numbers. Lower than what the operator was showing us on the screen. Thanks for all your effort and patience after the first go around, but I think we made the correct choices in the end... Good things take time. I hope I can make the truck fly.
-
Cody, you are very welcome. Enjoyed meeting you and the wife in person. I'll get Frank to print the corrected sheets. Probably was not a huge CF yesterday. I'll call him. Can't wait to see how it does in your truck.
-
That's a bad ass mill for sure, especially if it's streetable. Looks like the truck is gonna need some wheelie bars along with the cage!
-
CF in the room was between 1.055 and 1.061 over the course of the day.
-
those are some sweet horsepower and torque numbers and at low rpm also, should last a long time. and times 2, get that welder fired up for that shiny new cage ;)
-
Very cool Cody!!! Congrats man!!! You have a lot going on here LOL
-
Congrats Blair and Cody... wow, you got a mean engine now! Looks like you have had a busy week Cody! Getting married, big dog burnout at the reception was cool... honeymoon, Nashville, and a dyno session... I saw the Facebook post, but I didn't know it was your engine and BP Power. Great job!
I think you will need a full cage now. Are you trying for the fastest FE truck? You and Bruce F need to go heads up!
Looks like the Victor with some love and a big Dominator can make some steam. I have said that before on mostly deaf ears. I realize there is much more to it than that, so don't get me wrong. I can't wait to hear some ET numbers!
-
Wow Cody, this is a BIG step up.
Good luck getting the truck set up to handle this one !
-
Great Job Blair and Cody, Ole'Blue will be a wild running beast now. Good Luck........Al
-
Thanks guys but Blair deserves all the credit since it's his recipe. I just sent him some of the parts I had already collected and he worked them into the build. I just told him my intentions for the truck and this is what resulted. Should be a hoot adding around 300 hp to the truck. I will be changing rearends going from 31 spline and street gears to 35 spline and pro gears. Will hopefully be putting a cage in the truck over the winter or as time allows. Anybody care to take a guess where I will end up ET / MPH? Truck is around 3900 lbs without a cage...Thanks
-
I'm guessing you'll be in the 12's....from lack of traction ;)
I got a gander at your engine while I was at Blair's picking up a stroker kit. I still can't believe this is going into your truck! A nice combo of parts, and of course the right guy to mate it all together. Good luck on getting it sorted out with the new combo, and that's not meant sarcastically either. I hope the new wife enjoyed her honeymoon :)

10.28@136 ...........................Al
-
yep, I'm thinkin low 10s
-
Wow! Low tens here too! Tailwind and great bite....9.99!
-
Congrats Cody on gettin' hitched. BP builds the best damn wedding gifts ever! ;D Old Blue is gonna honk! 10.30's 130ish mph I'd bet...
-
I'm curious to know more about this great motor. What is the compression ratio? What is the bore and stroke? that's a great motor with great numbers congratulations.
-
It is 4.345 bore x 4.375 stroke. Around 13:1 static. Heads are a variation of my "street" Pro Port Edelbrocks, modified Victor manifold. It only has .695 lift at the valve....very reliable solid roller that I use in many builds. There is some more power in a bigger cam, but one of the goals was not to build a psrts-breaker valvetrain.
-
9.78, @ 138 mph
-
Small update on this engine, I have it installed in the truck and drove it around the block a few times, tried to run it at the last race of the year at my local track... but Mother Nature didnt cooperate so now I gotta decide if I want to travel to see what it will do this fall or wait till spring.
-
How did the monster feel? Very cool, can't wait to see how it does.
-
It's a handful... need to add an electric fuel pump and still get the new rearend installed but it scoots as is...
-
Cody! I think you need to travel! ;)
-
Well, a little update on the 520 deal, it's been a very very long road to get to the this point, but I'm glad to say I finally got the truck down the track with the new engine and almost all the updates on the truck, new rearend with back brace and disk brakes, home fabricated rear suspension, rollbar, trans shield, etc. Still on the to do list: is widen the wheel tubs and reinstall, build a new floor for the box, run second fuel line for fuel system, probably change rear gear, and converter. I made four passes Friday at the street car event at kaukauna wi. First test pass was 11.26 @ 118 short shifting and using two step, second was pass was 10.77 @ 124 leaving against the converter and not short shifting, 3rd pass was after changing from my dambest 980 cfm 4150 flanged carb to my 1150 dominator carb and was rewarded with a 10.56 @ 126, all these passes and only going threw the traps about 5800-5900 rpm with the 4.10 gear and 31.5 tall tire. 4th and final pass I changed to my new drag radials which are only 27.8 tall and about 12" wide, track was cold and I did a huge burnout to break them in but they were probably to hot and the mistress just knocked em off leaving the line, so I pedaled her once and got right back in it and went 10.69 @ 128 despite losing over 2 tenths at the 60 ft, but the shift lite was on before I crossed the finish so it definetly wants more gear. For a first outing on a marginal cold track, on a bunch of new never tested parts I'm fairly happy, there's more in it for sure. Truck weighs about 4100 lbs after all the changes, and it's probably gonna be closer to 4200 after it's finished with me in it, Shes heavy.
-
Cody, that is smokin' in that truck! Can't wait to see what she'll do when all dialed in. Drag Week next year?
-
...3rd pass...was rewarded with a 10.56 @ 126,....
....I'm fairly happy,
Talk about a tough customer!..lol
That's awesome, Cody! It's pretty evident that at least 10.40s are in your future, if not 10.30s.
Just out of curiosity, I know peak power was made at 6500, but what is your redline set at? Most people I watch are stretching the RPMs at the top end, lighting the shift lite well before the finish line.
-
Very cool!
-
Redline? What's that used for? Lol, I hit the recall on the Tach and it said 7400, which is where I got the rev limiter set I think. Shift lite is set for 6600 and 6800. Converter was setup tight on purpose, and I really don't want to put 4.57/4.86 gears in it for street driving, so I need to find some more power, less weight, or get the short tire to work at the track with the truck. Yes I want to run drag week but I was a couple weeks short this year, maybe next year if it's not too far away.

Latest video from the annual all ford race in Kentucky this year... was a fun ride. Note to self, leave the two step hooked up if you want to see the track when leaving the line lol.. haven’t had much time to play with the mistress this summer. Hopefully more time for fun next year.
-
I thought I felt the earth spin a little faster for a second or two.
Wow hookalicious.
-
Awesome hualing the mail there.
-
Sweet mother of weight transfer! Nice launch, Cody!!! That's the kind of launch I'm hoping for next year.

The mistress made the highlight reel of the local videographer at private track rental at WIR Sunday, I’m finally getting the truck calmed down some and moving forward and up and not just up lol. I switched fuels also and it seems I found some more torque with the new to me 1250 dominator and now I’m still fighting a fuel delivery issue but I still almost bested my fastest ET despite running the floats bowls dry during the pass. Bigger fuel pump getting installed this week before heading to Kentucky for the all ford race September 12-14... just thought I let you guys all know I’m not dead, just busy and only lurking once in a while.
-
Cody that is an awesome truck! Is the all Ford race at US60?
-
I was wondering what ever became of Cody & the truck recently, good to see both still around. I have to wonder if that air screen on the carb and those big side mirrors are hurting performance much. Keep us updated please. Also, Cody, you need to update your signature!
-
Awesome Cody way to keep the FE going.

Yes it’s at us 60... anything ford powered has an open invite. Sucks this year is that it’s the same weekend as the FeRR oh well. Maybe next year.

So,....jealous !
I wanted a BBM block and heads, their beautiful, but too high in cost,,plus everything else to finish the engine. But MSN, what an engine for the owner. We were going for 527 cubes.
If you can, what would be the cost on it ? (Pm me in needed)
