Title: Any pellet gun shooters.
Post by: NIsaacs on March 13, 2016, 07:56:21 AM
I have always had cheap BB guns, with the current one an old Crossman 66 Powermaster pump up.

I just bought a Ruger Impact 22 cal. break barrel with 4x32 scope. It appears to be an amazing rifle with wood stock and even a Picatinny Rail mount and weighs 7 pounds

I was just wondering if anyone else has a pellet rifle that can share info, so I don't have so much trial and error work to do, lol

I think now I need a companion hand gun in a CO2 powered. In the old days, the guns were not sealed very well and every time you wanted to use it the canister would be empty. Has that improved at all?

many years ago I had a red rider bb gun that I shot my wife in the ass with. seemed like a good idea at the time that was probably influenced by too many brews. needless to say, that was pretty much the end of my bb gun career. So to answer your question, I cannot help you out here other than to discourage you from the future shooting of your wife in the ass.

I have an RWS .177" that works off of one barrel break-down.  It will shoot through an oil filter.

Dad recently bought a new RWS in a .177".  Works the same and will drop a groundhog with no problem.  I believe both rifles are around 1000 fps capable.  They have more recoil than any .22 rimfire that I've been behind.

I have a Gamo .177 break barrel with a scope on it.I am no expert but I like the feel of it and its very accurate.I got a huge selection of various kinds of ammo with it and found the gun is quite happy with gamo pellets. The cheap stuff just isn't accurate...
I use it mainly for grey and black squirrels that don't belong here in BC.I live in the country and there is no shortage of them.
Rifle is 1000-1200 FPS..
There are new ones out that have(large) gas charged (refillable)cannisters on them that are very quiet..The UK and South African guys have some really nice pellet gun stuff as the laws there are much different than ours..They are also allowed to use suppressors,we are not.

I looked up the RWS, that's a fine rifle, made in Germany. My Ruger is made by Umarex (China lol) but to Ruger specs so I hope it is a quality piece, it seems to be, up front. I was surprised at the recoil, it is significant. So far it seems to make up for it in impact tho, hits hard on a rabbit.

I did some general research on a 22short and average specs they shoot about 850 fps, with a 29 gr. bullet with 50 ft. lbs. of energy. This rifle shoots a 14 gr. bullet 800 fps and hits with about 20 ft. lbs. of energy so definitely not a toy.

427, I was looking at the Gamo real serious but the store only had the .177, I wanted the .22 so I passed on it. All they had in .22 was the Ruger and a Remington. I am amazed at the choices of air guns and ammo, it is unlimited. Some of the match grade stuff is huge dollars!

Here is a ballistic sample of a modern pellet rifle on a piece of 1.5" plastic pipe, my old school BB gun just left a small mark and bounced off.

BTW I have a Beeman pump target rifle w/scope especially for venomous snakes, Sheridan pump wicked powerful air rifle and a pair of CO2 Crossman pistols. Legally can't fire "guns" inside the entire county so quiet is a good thing...

I have two pellet guns, a Crossman .22, and a new .177 single break down that fires 1350 fps.  I have killed over 55 squirrels out of my back yard with the Crossman which only shoots 750 fps.  I don't count the doves, or possums.  I finally got embarrassed and quit shooting the animals, but when they damage my house overhang trying to gnaw into the attic, they are toast.  Joe-JDC

Sheridan pump for me with Beeman pellets. Marlin 22 bolt action with CCI CB short ammo makes less noise. best in town bunny gun by far.

Have several pellet rifles and Co2 pistols. One of my favorites is the .22 cal Xisico B28 I bought from Flying Dragons Air rifles.
This is a magnum class springer break barrel and is a power house. From 30 yds. the pellet will blast through a 3/4 inch pine board and take out 2 water filled aluminum screw cap beer cans placed in line.
Another is my creation of a double barreled .22 cal break barrel shotgun I built using 2 Gamo shot shell rifles. A fun can blaster shooting both barrels at once!

Here's the Deuce 22 double barrel and my 30 yd. air rifle range the "Shotgun Saloon"

That's a cool shotgun, I would need wheels under it ;D Looks like you are a serious shooter by looking at all your targets, and the portable bench rest.
