Title: C5AF-12127-AV - Original Application?
Post by: JacksFordParts on October 04, 2022, 11:10:39 AM
I picked up a C5AE-G Blocked 427 engine and with it was this distributor. I have not had one before and cant find hardly anything about it online aside from guesses.  It is a FoMoCo casting, spring 65 dated.  The SOHC distributors are mostly AZ but I am wondering if this is one as well OR what else it could have come with...  Any information greatly appreciated, looking to learn.

Jack if my memory serves from my own investigating on one I had, they were thought to be a 406 replacement distributor.

C5AF-12127-AV is listed for 61/63 "A" (Ford) Special (with 4/B or 6/B carb) 390, 406. Part number COAZ-12127-K, which was the OEM application for the 1960 352/360 hp.

But it will not be “correct” for an early hipo car because it was cast in the spring of 1965. So I guess it just a service replacement part.

It gets worse if you open the sealed box and it's a Motorcraft. I can't believe I lost money on buying N.O.S 427 parts!
