Title: Weigh in time for the wagon.....
Post by: BattlestarGalactic on September 04, 2022, 08:27:20 AM
Saw they had the scales open at DW42 yesterday so before hitting the ET shack first TT I veered into the scales.  Yup, as it was many years ago, 3975# with me and 2000# on the front with me.  This makes the car at pert near 50/50 weight distribution with me in it.  3800# without me.

This is of course is without the hood yet, so throw that 25# back on and its 4000#.

Very cool it runs that quick at almost 4000 lbs.

What did one of those wagons weigh fresh off the assembly line?

Most larger tracks have scales, especially if they host national or divisional events, because some classes have a minimum weight, or other classes like Stock or Super Stock the cars have a specific weight and that gets checked after a winning run, for example. And if the track runs specialty events, like when we’ve done Hot Rod Drag Week, some classes also have minimum weights that are checked. Even in classes that don’t require a particular weight, like in bracket racing, racers often like to monitor their race car weight, whether for the day or even between rounds, adding or removing ballast, fuel level (weight), etc. can all be used to adjust your ET. Just some examples of why a track having scales is nice, and most do. Some smaller tracks don’t always have them.

Joe,
No scales at Beaver Springs. However do you have a local feed mill? They typically have calibrated scales. The mill local to me in Denver, PA will scale at $2 with a printout.

Good to see you this past weekend.

thanks Doug no there arent any feed places on Long Island that I know of but there are some junk yards that have scales but driving through the yard to get to the scale
might cost you a tire or two so not really worth it. And yes it was good to talk o you to. i already cant wait for next year.

More then once, way back I would hit the local truck stop scales.  If you put axles on separate pads you can get front/rear bias.  Most large truck scales have two pads for tractors, and another for trailer axles.
