Title: FEloney heads
Post by: motorheadted on April 05, 2021, 08:52:11 AM
I need a new set of heads and I'm leaning towards Survival "FEloney" heads. I can't get ahold of Barry to see if he has any in stock (bare castings) and ask him if the valves and springs from my E-boks can be used with his heads. no answer on either phone # or e-mail.
Has anyone here using his feloney heads that could answer my questions ?
I know he's on this forum, and maybe he'll see this.

I am moving to a new shop and am even harder to reach than normal...

I have raw castings in stock - but they are not machined  Still working on setting up machining and cannot promise any sort of delivery date.

What sort of questions do you have?

Barry: I was wanting to know if the valves & springs in my present E-bocks would fit in the FElony heads.  And will the stock rocker assy fit.
It's academic if you don't have a pair ready to go.
Thanks for the reply.

Any Edelbrock compatible parts will fit

Barry: any projected date for bare or completed heads?

Not soon enough.  Since Edelbrock cannot machine right now I had to restart a program to do machining in Detroit.  I "have a guy" with a couple four axis Haas in his pole barn (might seem odd but surprisingly common around here).  But he needs to have a sample head scanned for all the fastener and feature locations.

Barry: are you saying that the only thing holding up production is a sample head for the "pole barn" machine guy to scan for locations ?

Pole barn is Milford, Michigan,
Scanning guy already has a sample finished head.

Barry:
Could you throw a WAG for shipping:
    1. a bare head
    2. a completed head

   WAG= Wild Ass Guess

Swag

Scientific wild ass guess.  For more accurate.

Without getting into pricing - a pair of bare machined castings is about as much as a complete set of Edelbrocks.  A complete set for flat tappet or hydraulic roller is about a grand higher.

Barry:

My problem is not the price ,  it's availability. By using valves and springs from my E-bocks I save some coin, but completed units are not out of the question .
I figure if I have to replace the heads, I might as well get something with a newer design.
What I was asking was, considering all the obstacles you and the whole industry are facing and not knowing when it will get back to normal,  when would you guess you could supply a set of your bare heads ??

Well, the best I could do is a used set of E-bocks from a fellow Club Cobra member. They're in pretty good shape, but I have to change springs . Need to find a spring compressor that can handle multiple springs. The loner I got from Advance auto parts won't do it. (big "C" clamp type )  What are you guys using ?
